John  Muir (1838- 1914) was one of Americas most famous naturalist conservationist. He explored unclaimed territory  such as Alaska, Nevada and California. He later began to bring people along on his adventures where he tought them the importance of such vast untouched lands. His writtings greatly contributed to the National parks we have today. ( Yosemite, Mount Rainier, Grand Canyon, ect.) In 1892, Muir established the Sierra Club and held office as president until his death in 1914.
