As we headed up the stairs Corrie snapped this (above left) picture and captured an orb floating very near the spot where I had mentioned that I felt the spirit of a young boy who spent quiet a bit of time watching the parties through the wooden banister. Once we made it to the landing we were immediately drawn to the closest room to our right. This room is presently being used as a bedroom, but each of us suspected that during its bordello time it had been the main room used for performing sexual acts. This was the room we decided to leave the audio in as we investigated the rest of the house. MORE HERE
What do you get when you cross a hard to open attic door, a lot of that pink itchy insulator stuff, a then very itchy Dana and a house full of party hungry ghosts? The Waterloo Bordello. Yep its finally here, on January 26th 2004 the GGB's packed up and headed off for a long awaited ghost hunt of the Waterloo Bordello.
So its finally here the long awaited ghost hunt of the now famous Waterloo Bordello. A lot of you have been emailing showing an interest in this particular location so I wont keep you waiting any longer, lets begin shall we? Now if someone where to ask me about ghost hunting I might say its the investigation of locations suspected to be haunted. The investigators (or ghost hunters) collect data in hopes of proving the existence of ghosts or spirits. Sound about right to you? Yes there's usually some dirty work involved, quite a few of the places we visit are abandoned, so you get your cob webs, a little dirt here and there, but nothing major. So when I walked through the door at the old bordello, I never expected that I would be leaving in a state of itching purgatory. You might have already drawn the conclusion that I was, during our investigation, clobbered...attacked some would say, by what I can only describe as the world most violent attic door. And if that wasn't enough after the stars cleared I opened my eyes only to find that not only had I been smacked in the head but I was now being hysterically laughed at by my fellow ghost hunters and was covered in a heavy dusting of that lovely pink 'itchy as all hell' insulator. Which was followed by a barrage of picture flashes. Its always me isn't it dear reader? So much to my fellow Girly Ghostbusters dismay I would like to take a moment in order to visually demonstrate the lengths I (Dana E Matthews) will go to for a good ghost hunt.
The Destination: The Waterloo Bordello The Music: Nelly Fertado The Task: To investigate the now private residence and investigate the never before entered attic space. The Obstacle: The attic door. The Challenge: Getting the damn thing open. Did we do it?: You bet your bottom dollar we did! The Price you pay for bashing in an attic door?: Dana was extremely itchy for the rest of the night. So the Story Goes on the Waterloo Bordello.
Picture One: The attic door closed. Looking rather harmless might I add.
Picture Two: The attack...notice the insulator and the shielding of my eyes.
Picture Three: The now open attic door.
Alright I feel a bit better now knowing that you at home are now completely aware of the entire incident. Lets get on with the hunt. We had visited the location before to do a pre-investigation, and initially we all felt a great deal of spirit energy. The house had been home to John Amos for well over fifty years and the present day owners are quiet sure he died in the house. The house then in the seventies was a well known party spot, home to many late nights, hangovers and a bit of what I like to call the 'special massages', if you catch my drift. Upon entering the home we all felt the familiar busy sensation, owing to the fact that again this house saw many many people during its fun run in the seventies. On the main floor we where each separately bombarded with mental images of gambling, drinking, thick cigarette smoke (even though the owners don't smoke), and a sense that this was the busiest area of the home. Corrie snapped away and Jen recorded any temperature and after about twenty minutes we decided to head upstairs.
