We retired two American flags that were worn and torn, by burning them, after a solemn ceremony by the campfire. The girls learned a lot about flag etiquette on our camping trip this summer. |

Anna cuts a stripe from the flag while Miss Jeni reads from the ceremony book. We learned as we were retiring the flag that the 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies of the United States. The girls took this ceremony very seriously. Here, Kristen and Ashleigh help to hold the flag while Cassie holds the stripes already cut from the flag. |

Cassie lays the stripes over the fire as the girls look on. |
