Summer Camp 2002 at Roy Weller, Bruceton Mills, W VA
The girls wanted to plan a summer camping trip, so they set their cookie sale goals, and off we went.

Camp coordinators were Miss Jeni, Miss Bea and Miss Sue.  Parent assistant was Julianna's mom, Pam.

Some of our activities included a first aid hike (Highlight:  when Miss Jeni picked up a toad on the path to show the girls, and it "peed" on her!  For some girls, this seemed to be a favorite part of the camping experience!), a night-time scavenger hunt planned by Miss Bea, and making rainsticks in the Nature Center.  Some girls also rode bikes borrowed from the Center or just relaxed and got to know their fellow troop members a little better.  Believe it or not, we didn't have a single homesick girl!

We also cooked over the campfire (chicken packets, mmmm!) and of course, made s'mores!

The girls were a little surprised to find they would be cleaning up after themselves, but once they got the hang of doing dishes with the 1-2-3 system and hanging up their dunk bags, they were old pros.

One of their favorite things to do was play "Red Rover".  We even met a Cadette troop camping in the lodge next door to us and the girls talked some of them into playing with them.  We had fun meeting Sharon, Caitlin, Ashlee and Lisa from Cadette Troop 1157 from Hudson OH.  If you see them, tell them Troop 912 says "Hi!"

We held a flag-retiring ceremony.  The girls were very impressed by this solemn event and did a great job with their manners and flag etiquette.

On our way home, we stopped at Laurel Caverns for a fossil hunt and some cave exporing.

Guess they all had fun, because none of our girls wanted to come home!
