| Cookies are over for another year. After our initial order and 12 Cookie Shops, the troop sold a total 2,288 boxes of cookies, which earned us $1,430. We also received quite a few donations, totaling $133. We beat our goal of 2000 boxes; partly because we had 4 more Cookie shops this year versus last year. Great job to everyone! The troop sends a special thanks to Grace who was our wonderful Cookie Chair again this year! We truly appreciate her dedication and the time she graciously gives to the troop. Thank you Grace! The girls voted at our last meeting and decided to take some of their Cookie earnings and donate it to the Humane Society. During our tour there in April we will be stopping by the store to purchase some needed supplies for the animals staying at the shelter. They also want to plan a trip to Spring Down Equestrian Center. We will be coordinating a date in June. Permission slips will be distributed at a later date. In March, the Brownies earned their "Let's Pretend & Building Art Try-It's". Also in March, the Juniors earned their "Pet Care" badge and began working on their "Being My Best" badge. The Junior girls have decided to earn the highest award they can earn at this level, the Bronze award. We have begun working on the prerequisites required and plan on completing a group Community Service project next season. The 6 girls who will be bridging to the next level of Girl Scouting (Juniors) will begin working on their Bridging Requirements at our last meeting in March with the Juniors from our troop. We are looking forward to our Mother Daughter Mystery Trip on Saturday April 4th. All of the girls are very curious and excited. Hope everyone has been able to keep the secret, so that it remains a mystery to the girls until we arrive at our location. In April, we will be making SWAP's to trade with other Girl Scouts at various different events. We will continue to plan for our Camporee trip and practice preparing for the competition events. One of the competition events will be knot relays, where the girls need to be able to do various knots. The other competitions are using compasses, nature ID, estimating distance, weight and height. This year the Juniors will be competing in fire building and building shelters events. Lastly, Early Bird Registration paperwork will be distributed in April. |
