ENCAMPMENT

If your troop is going to spend the night at Encampment and no one in your troop is Troop Camp trained please check the Calendar of Events for the trainings scheduled in March and April.  Remember if no one in your troop has this training you
WILL NOT be able to spend the night.  If you are only spending one night at encampment please write on the registeration form what night you are planning to spend.  The question came up on the girl-adult ratio.  Please only register the number of adults that meet safety-wise at this time.  If we have any adult openings after we have gone through all the registerations they will go to the youngest troop first and troops with special needs girls.
OUTSTANDING LEADER AND VOLUNTEER AWARDS

The nomination forms have been sent out to each leader and co-leader that is on the email list.  Please nominated a leader, co-leader or maybe you have a parent that does alot for your troop for one of these awards.  The deadline for turning in nomination forms is March 10.  This is so the nomination can go through the forms and get the awards ordered in time for our service unit awards night.  If you need a nomination form, email
Gabriele Hammon and one will be sent to you.
SUPER TROOP STATUS

The following troops have completed six stars to receive super troop status so far this year:
920, 1734, 1736, 1846, 1865 and 2138.
REQUEST FOR HELP FROM SENIOR GIRL SCOUTS FROM TROOP 1865

The Seniors from Troop 1865 are planning a service project for National Youth Service Day-April 11-13, 2003.  They are planning to assemble backpacks for Children's Hospital with arts and craft supplies.  They are presently looking for gently used backpacks.  If you have any at your house or parents from your troop have one or two they are willing to donate please bring them to the February or March leaders meeting.  More information will follow at the leaders meeting. Also check out their web site www.geocities.com/troop1865seniors
JANUARY TROOP ACTIVITIES

Troop 1733: They were busy working on their Thinking Day project.
Troop 2139: They attended the Discover Light Workshop.  They had a great time learning about light and how different colors are made.  They enjoyed earning the patch they received.
GREAT SWAPS SITE

I received this wonderful swaps website.  It is full of great swap ideas for many different events.

RECRUITMENT

We need about 24 more girls in our service unit to make the 300 girl membership goal for this year.  If each troop recruits one or two new girls as part of the Totem Council Patch program we will make the goal.
SERVICE UNIT AWARDS NIGHT

The awards committee is busy planning the awards night but they need your help.  They need to know if any girl in your troop has earned the Junior Leadership Pin, Bronze Award, Cadette Leadership Pin, Program Aide Patch, and Silver Award.  They have heard from troops 1736, 1846 and 1865.  They need this information as soon as possible.
