     If you're friends with someone, you have to spend time with them...simple as that! You need time togeather to grow your friendship and get close. It's like when you have a boyfriend...you know, you want to be with them every spare moment. That's how it should be with God too! Cause He's the Man! If you want to grow your relationship with Jesus, spend time alone with Him everyday, getting to know Him, reading His word, talking to Him...which brings us to T number three...Time! Just as a review...what were the other two again? Take (take Him with you everywhere you go), Talk (pray to Him...talk to Him), and finally, Time (spend time chillin with Him)
     Quiet time alone with Jesus is one of the best ways to build up your best friendship with Him. A quote I like about quiet time is this, "Every morning, lean thine arms awhile upon the windowsill of heaven, and gaze upon thy Lord. Then, with the vision in thy heart, turn strong to meet thy day." Isn't that a beautiful picture? (Say yes!) Now, quiet time doesn't HAVE to be in the morning. If you're more of a night person, chill with God at night! As long as you spend time with Him, it's all good!
      Ron Luce made a good point at Acquire the Fire last year. He said, "You know how when you're in love with someone, and you can just sit there and gaze into their eyes for hours and not think a thing of it? And then your friends are over here watching you and going...whoa, those two are out there. Well, have you ever done that with Jesus?" Have ya? If not...YOU SHOULD TRY IT!!! IT ROCKS!!! In fact, if you don't usually take time outta your busy day to chill with God, I challenge you to do it...NOW...this week! Just go sit somewhere quiet where no one will bother you...in your room, outside in God's world, where ever...and take 15-30 minutes and take your mind off of all the mess of this world and focus on God. Let Him speak to you. Stare into His loving face. Feel that sweet kiss of heaven in your heart. You'll love it! I'm sure! You're not gonna wanna leave when your time is up! I mean, when you're hanging out, one on one, with the Lord of Lords, who would want to jump right back into this quick paced world we live in where one thing comes right after another with no afterthought what so ever...moving right along! Just kidding. One more point before I go on...just because you don't FEEL God's holy spirit doesn't mean He's not there. Humans base everything so much on feeling, but in your relationship with God, as with any other relationship, you're not gonna FEEL love all the time...but it's still there....true love is commitment and sticking it out even when you don't feel the Holy spirit. Love is a verb, not a feeling. WAIT...I have another point...or a story of sorts. I was doing a devotional one time, and I got convicted on keeping up with my own quiet time everyday. It was talking about how God speaks to you through prayer and hangin with Him...well, what if God had something REALLY important He wanted to tell you and he says, "Hey, ________!" And you're not there to answer Him, "Here I am Lord!" and you miss out on what He was gonna say. I NEVER want that to happen...I don't want God to be sad that I didn't want to hang with Him...cause I do!   I LOVE chillin with my God! That's why I do quiet time...not to mention it grows you in your faith, and teaches you stuff. Well, sunday school and church do the same, you may say. Yea, but think of it this way, you have to breathe more than once a week...you have to eat more than once a week... and how much more important is God to life than food or air? WAY MORE! He gave us life! He gives us air to breathe and food to eat...ok, I'm off on a tangent, I realize it....
      So anyway, GO NOW! CHILL WITH GOD! Be still and know He is God...know He is there. Who cares if it takes a chunk of time out of your day, HE'S GOD! He's worth it! He gave you His life, He bought you with His blood, you are His child, now go spend time with your Daddy! Get closer to Him...let His love consume you...get tight with Him...He's AWESOME!
