Is My Hair OK?
Read:  Proverbs 31:30
           Psalm 139: 13-14
           1 Samuel 16:7

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewlery and fine clothes.  Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."
                                               1 Peter 3:3-4

Beauty.  It's all around us.  Magazines and TV tell us how to look.  They say skinny is pretty!  Be youthful!  Have perfect skin!  Sure, we all want to look good, and there's nothing wrong with that.  But outter beauty is fleeting...it's here today and gone tomorrow.  You gain weight, get zits, grey hair, wrinkels...it's a never ending battle to look good.  I do think that it is ok to try and look your best.  If you want to loose weight, go for it! If you think that make up makes you prettyer, wear it!  Take care of your body...eat right, exercise.  Our bodies are God's temple, He lives there, so take care of God's temple.  And feel free to decorate His temple!  We decorate churchs all pretty, so why not decorate ourselves!.  Wear the clothes that look good on you, wear jewelery to accent your clothes...but don't forget that those things are not what is important.  Though there is nothing wrong with wanting to be pretty, don't let it consume you.  Instead of standing in front of the mirror for an hour every morning, wishing your nose was smaller or your teeth whiter, chill with God!  Grow your inner beauty, strive to be the best that you can be in attitude, love, and purity, because that is what really counts.  People look at your outward beauty, but God looks at your heart...how you treat others, your love for Him, your motives, your actions, your speech.  Those are the things that really count, the things that truely make you gorgeous!  It is better to spend that time cultivating your inner beauty, that will never fade, than wishing to be tall and slender or wishing for powder perfect skin, or something else that isn't going to happen.  God made us all different.  He's creative...He doesn't want us all to be skinny little Barbie dolls.  We are created by Him, perfect in His sight, even if we have big hips or a tummy or zits...He doesn't care!  We were fearfully and wonderfully made by Him to be just who we are...so be happy with what God has blessed you with!  When I look in the mirror and think, "Man, I look so ugly.  Look at those zits!  That frizzy hair!"  I remind myself that that is not how God sees me.  He looks at me as a beautiful girl...His child, who is trying to please Him.  His daughter, who is a sinner, but is perfect none the less because of His Son.  That's how He sees you too.  God loves you for who you are, He made you special...He made you just who He wants you to be,  and you are perfect  in His sight!
Everyone is beautiful in God's eyes!
