Conference Meet
It has been a rebuilding year for Northwest in Track and Field the Conference Meet highlighted some of our bigger problems on Varsity. From athletes not showing up, a bus not being on time, a choir trip, a dropped baton, a disqualification, and a hurdler going down it was a tough day. We are a tougher team now going into Districts and a team that is definitely on the road toward rebuilding in the future. Districts will have a distinctly younger feel for the Lions with several freshmen and a slew of sophomores competing for the Lions. The Conference meet did have it's highlights however. The athlete of the meet was Zach Kassman. In a day that the Varsity only medaled in four events Zach won medals in three. He has been a great leader and a wonderful bright spot for the Lions this season. Zach finished 5th in the 4x800 along with Josh Dautenhahn, Justin Schacht, and Tyler Amick, 3rd in the High Jump, and 3rd in the 3200 meter run. Chris Chiles also leaped to a third place finish in the pole vault. The JV picked up a ton of medals and finished just a couple of points away from 4th place against some very tough competition. Jake Scheidl finished 2nd in both hurdle races, Jeremey Schacht was 3rd in high jump, Dennis Miner was third in discus, but the sole Conference Champion for the Lions on both levels was Clinton Cooksey with a 10'6" pole vault. Congrats to Clinton and his amazing improvement this year. Complete Results from the meet, and the district information and schedule can be found here. trxclandscaping.com 2007-05-07 02:34:28 GMT
