Information on the Northwest Track and Cross Country Teams
Calling all runners

Andy Campbell finally made it to a fun run Tuesday.  He didn't run but he had a good time.  It was another solid showing with 25 runners attending, but it is that time of year when the numbers should begin picking up.

This is a message for the boys:

A champion is willing to put in the work to achieve great things, they don't wait to see if great things will just happen.  I have witnessed many great performances since I first became part of this team 13 years ago.  Last year Andy Mikes finished 30th at the state meet.  My first year Devin McCall finished 16th, Mike Nelson was 19th, and Larry Davis finished 35th.  The following year Devin finished 13th.  Our last State Medalist was Gabe Lutes and he has already graduated from college.  This year we begin the season with no runner who has ever even qualified for the state meet.  Potential is a wonderful thing, but it means nothing without hard work.  For those of you who believe that Andy Mikes never worked hard I will remind you that NOBODY worked harder than Andy last year at practice.  In the first 41 years of Northwest Cross Country's glorious history we have never had a state meet without at least one qualifier.  Over my first eight years I have taken this streak very personally and it is now your turn.  The 2006 Northwest Cross County team is the 42nd in the schools history.  Teams from years 11 through 30 all qualified for state however, we have qualified only one boys team for state in the past 12 years.  Now is the time to choose how this season will stack up.
