A Little About Me & My Family...Well, you probably already guessed, my name is Gin (short for
Virginia). I was born & raised in Southern California. I lost my
Mother when I was 5, and moved in with my neighbors because my Dad was
working 15 & 16 hour days, (He was a tower crane operator for local
12). I moved back in with my Dad when I was 8. He was a biker, so
there were always lots of motorcycles, parties, and women around. It was a
different kind of lifestyle, but I learned alot of street sense from it. I
also learned how to read people!
I grew-up on the back of a Harley, so I got to see alot of this
beautiful country of ours, and Canada, and Mexico! My Dad loved to travel.
Traveling is great, but to do it in the open, without the barriers of a
car is a totally different, and truely wonderful experience!
When I was 15 my Dad had a major heart attack, that made him slow down,
and change his life a bit. He still loved his motorcycles, and women, but
the parties stopped for the most part.
I graduated from Canyon High School in 1985, on the principals honor
roll, with 20 extra credits! Pretty good hun!?! I had been working since I
was 16 too!
I got pregnant when I was 19, I was engaged to a guy that my Dad didn't
like, but I was in love! (I thought he was too...) The guy dumped
me when I was 5 mos. along...
My son, Jesse, was born on 02/08/88 and became the light of my life,
and made my Dad a very proud Grandpa! I believe Jesse is the reason my Dad
was here as long as he was. I lost my Father to another heart attack on
03/12/93. It's really hard to lose a parent, but when that parent is also
your best friend it's even harder, a big chunk of you dies with them...
I was engaged to the most wonderful guy for almost a year when I lost
my Dad, (Dad introduced us). After much thought and many tears, we
decided to go on with our wedding as planned, because that's what my Dad
would have wanted. It was really hard to do it without him though. We got
married on 08/07/93.
My husbands name is Gino, yes he's Italian! (I'm told that from the
paternal side, I'm Cherokee Indian & Scottish, and on the maternal
side, I'm Sioux Indian, French, & Irish.) Gino's a really great
guy. He works hard (he's an electrician), but still finds time to
be there for us, always! Almost exactly a year after we got married, we
got pregnant!!
My daughter, Kayle, was born on 04/12/95. She's the most beautiful
thing I've ever seen. It seems like the older she gets, the more beautiful
she is...
My son is almost as tall as me now, I think he is going to be very tall
when he grows up, probably 6 foot something! He does pretty well in
school, and has lots of friends. He's really involved in Cub Scouts, and
Gino is his "Assistant Den Leader", so they get to spend alot of quality
time together...
Jesse recently started getting headaches every once in a while, then
one day he was sitting on the couch screaming for me to make the pain
stop. I took him to the Dr. and they said he was having stress, gave him
some Tylenol with codeine and sent us home. That night he woke up
screaming again, and throwing up!!! I took him back to the Dr. & they
said that maybe he's diabetic. They wanted me to bring him back the next
day to see a specialist. Reluctantly we left. When I brought him back
(02/01/98), he was so lethargic he couldn't walk under his own
power, I had to carry him. the diabetes specialist said that he couldn't
believe the Dr.'s kept sending us home. He said that Jesse is not
diabetic, but that something was going on that wasn't good! He ordered a
cat-scan, and found a huge blood clot in my sons head (a subdural
hematoma). The blood clot was so big that it was pushing his brain to
one side of his skull!!!
Jesse was transported to another hospital, and was in surgery within
two hours after his cat-scan. The neurosurgeon said that if 1 more hour
had gone by, we probably would have lost him!!! Since then, he has been
doing really well. He's back in school, and is my old Jesse again :o)
They found that Jesse has a cyst in his brain that can't be removed
(it's surrounded with brain tissue). Evidently, the cyst ruptured
and broke a blood vessel, which caused the blood clot. Everything has
healed nicely though. There is a possibility that this can happen again,
but there's also a possibility that it won't.
We've had a lot of support from our family & friends, lots of
prayers too. I don't think we could have made it through, without each
& every one of them...
Well, that brings us to the present. Gino is still working as hard as
ever, Jesse & Kayle are growing like weeds, and I'm doing my best to
take care of them all (and loving every minute of it!).
