Hatching Day
By: tcl185 (J'son)
Today is a special day,
for today is Hatching day.
People from all over Pern,
are coming to my Weyr today.
They have come to see who will Impress,
and who wil leave dragonless.
All of the candidates dressed in white,
whose faces are filled with hope.
We stand here on the Hatching Grounds,
waiting for the eggs to hatch.
The sands that are so hot,
keep the eggs nice and warm.
The eggs start to rock and crack.
The Hatching has begun!
Golden Queen
By: tcl185 (J'son)
Golden Queen there is no need to worry.
For your children will Impress today.
All of the candidates have been selected from the best.
For the best of the best will Impress.
They will be cared and loved for.
For without them their riders would not be whole.
They will grow up nice and strong.
For they will help protect Pern from Thread.
So Golden Queen you should not be sad.
Instead you should be proud and glad.
Your children are starting to Impress.
So please don't be distressed.
For they are fulfilling destiny.
By protecing the planet from an ancient enemy.
So do not worry.
For this is meant to be.
Thread
By: tcl185 (J'son)
Alert the weyr!
Thread is about to fall.
Make sure the dragons are ready,
for yet another Fall.
The dragons start to chew firestone,
so they can burn thread from the skies.
The riders are almost ready,
to fight this ancient enemy.
The healers stand ready,
to heal any injuries.
The ground-crews stand ready,
just in case they are needed.
The Weyr is ready,
to fight yet again.
The dragons lift-off,
to destroy the Threadfall.
Death of a Rider
By: tcl185 (J'son)
Throughout the Weyr there is sadness,
because a rider has died and his dragon has gone /between/.
The rider and dragon who fought thread for so long,
were finally destroyed by this silvery substance.
The dragons are keeling death,
and the people are crying.
There is always sadness when a person dies,
but even more so if it is a dragon rider.
Fire Lizard
By: weyrfolk (Tigger)
Soaring and diving
And singing along
A leathery being
Of many a song
Screaching, scratching
And flying about
A winged defender
Of all who shout
Duty
By: weyrfolk (Tigger)
Sending out a call of fright
The Red Star shines, deep and bright
Dragons rise full in might
Sear the Thread in the dead of night
Between
By: weyrfolk (Tigger)
Cry out, cry out
To never be heard
Yell and shout
A soundless word
An endless darkness
A cold of unknown
A world of starkness
No light is shown
Dragon Heart
By: weyrfolk (Tigger)
A warrior above
A gift below
A lion among stars
An angel among lives
The End
By: weyrfolk (Tigger)
Lost in a world
Only half a soul
Why did you leave
I'm all alone
You fell to Thread
The silver death
For I'd be dead
Without your breath
The dragon's keened
I fled the sound
I had been deemed
A worthless hound
Yet without you there
I began to wander
My time was spent
I found the end.
Dragons' Departure
By: magelight_guardian (Silver)
My heart it writhes within my chest
My eyes they cease to see
My throat is closed to shallow breath
Emptiness within me.
The dragon's call, it chills my blood
Song one of pure despair
And through my soul a feeling floods
Grief too potent to bear.
A scream breaks unbearable silence, I fall
Echo of life fading slowly to naught
And no response to a mournful call
No solace in sadness for vacancy fought.
My soul torn violently in two
As one that was mine fades Between
Wondering if one can begin anew
When half a life is no longer seen.
Offer me now no comforting touch
Leave me to my silent grief
Allow me to fade so far into such
A facade and lie that there be relief.
Dragon's Birth
By: magelight_guardian (Silver)
A pulse to call from dark to light
A heart to soothe a newborn fright
Song resonant through heart and mind
Now move, tiny dragonet, with hopes to find
Eyes glitter above as hearts rejoice
And youth then finds its silent voice
To call its chosen to its side
That one day may then sit bestride.
Lament of the Old Brownrider
By: _gyr_ (---)
Aging bones and aching limbs
Turns of scars march across our skins
Slower now than weve ever been
We fight a war we cannot win
Tattered hide and stiffened wings
Our hearts still rise when the Harper sings
That dragonriders have to fly
When Thread does threaten in the sky
Too old to weep for long-lost friends
Busy searching for Threads new trends
Too old to fly when the greens are calling
Must still fly when the Holds are squalling
Frightened that if my dragon goes
I will be lost to Betweens flows
But dragonriders must still fly
When Thread does threaten in the sky
Red Star rises and I must too
When the Stones give the Weyr its que
Rise to war where lives are lost
Rise to war where lives are lost
But still this fight is worth the cost
For without my ancient, aging brown
More and more Thread might come down
So this old rider has to fly
When Thread does threaten in the sky
