MY SYNESTHETIC ALPHABET
and Numbers, too!
Synesthesia is the mental linking of two senses that are normally separate. For example, the perception of a color from hearing a sound or feeling a certain texture. This linkage is completely involuntary and the result of a tangible, genetic condition causing "cross-talk" between cognitive pathways. The most common form of synesthesia, and one that I possess, is known as grapheme-color synesthesia or chromographic synesthesia. In this form of synesthesia, letters and/or numbers are linked with static colors. I also possess ordinal linguistic personification: the association of static personalities and/or genders with letters/numbers. In short, my alphabet is WORLDS more interesting than that of most people.
The Letters:
A is bright red and the most dominant letter. Its gender is indistinct
B is an angry pregnant pit bull. She's pinkish red and a bitch.
C is very envious and sly. It's yellow-green and male.
D is purple, very caring, and trustworthy, and has much authority, like the perfect boss. Its gender is indistinct.
E is green, a bit eccentric, and always has to know what's going on. It's male.
F is purple, impersonal, and doesn't like to answer questions. It's male.
G is not afraid of being seen as an asshole. He is the close friend of F and purple.
H can be a push-over. He is orange, very regal and leonine.
I is dark blue and stands for justice. It's male.
J is meek, spacey, and just wants to make everyone happy. It's male and light blue.
K's heart is in the right place, but it can be snippish at times. It has a tendency to accidentally hurt feelings. It is purple and its gender is indistinct.
L is purple and dedicated to M. He doesn't care much for other letters.
M is purple and the most dominant letter after A. She smiles warmly, and offers protection.
N is very fearful and high-strung, but has a great deal of dormant strength. He feels safest near M, and other yellow letters Y, V, and S.
O is blue and ready to throw his weight around, esp. if it is in defense of a weaker letter.
P is pink, simple, and innocent, but can be bratty at times. It is happiest with B. It's gender is indistinct, but more feminine than masculine.
Q is purple and the mentor of R and S. It's male.
R is red, fiery, and passionate, but he has a lot of growing to do. He tends to run headlong into things.
S is yellow, wary, and very in tune with his conscience. He is in his teens or 20s.
T is sure of himself. He is green and very tall.
U is an oddball. It is overweight and reddish-purple. Its gender is indistinct.
V is yellow and full of energy. It's male.
W is purple and a close friend of X. It can be jolly. Its gender is indistinct, but more masculine than feminine.
X wonders a lot. He is purple and likes long walks by himself, esp on steep terrain.
Y is usually happy and has a hard time being serious. It's yellow and male.
Z is yellow and lonely. He wishes he had a kindred spirit.
The Numbers:
0 is the last one picked by team captains. It's male and cyan.
1 is a knight in shining armor. It's blue and male.
2 is bright red and a very strong young woman. She is the most powerful letter. Twelve and twenty are considered the most dominant, however, because 2 has no wish to rule over any other numbers, nor to be ruled herself.
3 is E, only nerdier.
4 can take care of herself just fine, thank you. She's purple.
5 is orange and a nice guy, but prone to peer-pressure. He likes meat.
6 is yellow and very pushy. It's female.
7 spends a lot of time in his head and tells everyone about it. It's male, yellow, and pretty tall.
8 is an older female. She's purple and has no time for nonsense.
9 likes comic books and smiling shyly. He's purple
10 is righteous but can be easily manipulated. He is yellow or cyan depending on how you look at him.
11 hopes he can make the world better. He's blue.
12 is red and the most dominant number. It upsets her that 2 won't listen to her orders.
13 does 12's paperwork. It's green and male.
14 is 4 only stronger and more mature. It's female.
15 is a hero waiting to be realized. It's male and orange.
16 is yellow and submissive. It's male.
17 is a 7 that has earned more rewards. It's orange and male.
18 whispers when it doesn't know what to do. It's purple and its gender is indistinct.
19 is purple and happiest with 18, 17, and 20. He worries about tomorrow.
20 rules the numbers (though 12 is more active and dominant, 20 is more powerful). It's bright red and its gender is indistinct, but more feminine than masculine.
