Eight Months of Growth

On August 16, 1961 a beautiful baby girl was born.  She had long dark brunette hair, and so much of it that everyone was amazed.  She had more hair on her head than most people.  Here eyes were so dark, that you could not tell what color they were, whether brown or dark blue.  It was decided that they had to be brown to be so dark
. Later we realized they were dark blue. Her hair by the time she was two was down past to the bottom of her back. Grandpa Paul had told his nurses about how much hair his granddaughter had.  But they didn't believe him, so he took pictures and took them back home to prove to the nurses that he did have a granddaughter that not only had long hair but was very beautiful.

Her grandfather Richard was hoping for a boy, but was elated when he saw her.  We had named her LuCinda Lu after her great, great grandmother.  But grandpa nicknamed her Little Luke.  I'm sure he had dreams of teaching her to skate and to ride.  (He had played hockey, bred, trained and showed horses as a young man.)  Yes, Cindy was the apple of his eye.

A Special Call From God

Gary was filled with pride.  He knew this would probably be his only child.  Although the previous nine months had been made pure hell for him by his wife.   The birth of Cindy made it all worth while.  Shortly after she was born is when he started to write poetry.  You may want to check out Gary's Poems to read some of his poetry.
Since Cindy's parents marriage was pretty rocky Cindy's birth brought back into the marriage a peace for a time.  The marriage continued for the next couple of years in turmoil, but Cindy had put it back on safe ground.  How God works wonders with a child that was not planned or wanted (by her mother).  He softens a heart so hard and cold with such a child.  Yes, Cindy had turned a nightmare into a dream come true for both parents.
Her mother took pride in combing her long hair, and dressing her.  She looked like a doll most of the time.  It was said she should have been a baby model, she was such a pretty baby.  One evening Cindy's mother knelt beside Cindy's bed, prayed and dedicated Cindy to God.  But as hard as her mother tried to cuddle her, Cindy would push  her away, as though she knew the evil person her mother had been while she was in the womb.
Let this be a lesson for mothers today to remember that while your babies are still in your womb, to let them know you love them.  That babies in the womb are little people with feelings.  They know if you love them or if you have no love.  I believed that children whether in the womb or living in this world are very sensitive to their mothers emotions and depression and they can become depressed themselves.  As children observe the adults around them, they are leaning how they will react in the future.  Best thing to remember is they are truly gifts from Heaven.
