The Vanishings

Chapter Five

~By Gina-chan~

"ARGH!! Will you two stop it?!" Ryver yelled. The two Vegetas stopped and looked at her, then went back to arguing.

"That's it! I'm going to my sister's house!" Ryver said, running out of the kitchen and through the front door.

"Wait for me!" Rapyd said, running after Ryver.  Rapyd ran up to Ryver as they were walking next door.

"Jeeze, those two are worse than Lin and Zegeta!" Ryver said.

"Yea I know. He wasn't like this before. But I guess he didn't live with someone who looks exactly like him," Rapyd said as they walked up the path to Ryver's sister's house. Ryver nodded as she rang the doorbell. A minute passed.

"Gosh, that girl better not still be in bed!" Ryver exclaimed.

"Try again," Rapyd suggested. Ryver rang the doorbell again. Still no answer.

"Okay, fine then," Ryver said, pulling a key out of her pocket and unlocking the door.

"You know, we're still wearing our pajamas," Rapyd pointed out as they walked into Ryver's sister's house.

"It doesn't matter. One house is empty and some guy that sounds remarkably like Vegeta lives in the other house. So there's only four houses on this street," Ryver said as they walked down the front hallway.

"Rayne! Are you home?" Ryver called out.

"Is Rayne your sister?" Rapyd asked.

"Yea," Ryver said. "Rayne! Get your butt down here!" The two walked upstairs to Rayne's room.

"Jeeze! She doesn't even make her bed anymore!" Ryver said, pointing to Rayne's bed.

"Yea, but how'd she get out of her bed without throwing back the covers?" Rapyd said.

"Very carefully. She must have gone out somewhere. Although, knowing her, she would never go anywhere this early," Ryver said.

"Oh well. I'm sure she'll be back soon," Rapyd said as they walked back downstairs. They walked back outside, and back to Ryver's house.

"That's weird. We actually got mail," Ryver said, opening the mailbox.

"Oh. It's for you," Ryver said, reading the envelope.

Rapyd-

I need you to visit to me as soon as possible. Bring the two Vegetas and Ryver along. Tell Ryver that it involves her sister. We have a major problem.

                                        -Ferio

Rapyd gasped.

"What is it?" Ryver asked, looking over Rapyd's shoulder.

"Ferio says that we have a major problem. He says that I should bring you and the Vegetas along too," Rapyd explained.

"Okay. But who's Ferio? And where does he live?" Ryver asked.

"Ferio is the guy that made the Dimension Key. He also watches every dimension to make sure there are no problems. He lives in another dimension," Rapyd said.

"A major problem? We'd better get the Vegetas then," Ryver said as they walked back up to the front door. They walked back inside, and back into the kitchen where the two Vegetas were still arguing away.

       "Guys STOP!!" Rapyd yelled.

"Vegeta-sama! Vegeta-chan! Listen up! Ferio says that something major is going on, and it has something to do with Rayne!" Ryver said quickly.

"Who's Ferio?" Vegeta-sama asked. Ryver and Rapyd sighed.

"Just come with us!" Rapyd said, running back outside. As soon as they all were out there, Rapyd said, "Dimension Key Power," as her body glowed golden and the Dimension Key appeared in her hand.

"Dimension Key Power Transport us to the world between dimensions!" Rapyd yelled out. A Dimension portal appeared in front of them.

"Just step in the portal," Rapyd explained.

"Why don't you go first?" Vegeta-sama asked.

"Because as soon as I step through the portal closes," explained Rapyd.

"Oh. Okay," Vegeta-sama said, stepping through the portal. Vegeta-chan stepped through, then Ryver, and finally Rapyd. The portal closed, and they were on their way to another Dimension.

The group landed with a thud. Ferio stood over them.

"Ah, so you must be Ryver," Ferio said, helping Ryver off the floor.

"And this must be Vegeta-sama," Ferio pointed at the adult Vegeta. Ryver nodded. The rest of the group picked themselves off the floor.

"Hey Ferio," Rapyd greeted. Ferio nodded.

"I called you all here because of something very serious that's going on. As you noticed this morning, Rayne, Ryver's sister, was missing. But she's not the only one," Ferio explained.

"Where's my sister?" Ryver growled, picking Ferio up by his collar.

"I...was...just...getting...to...that..." Ferio gasped. Ryver put him down.

"Based on these disappearances, it can only mean one thing. Shinma has been re-released," Ferio said gravely.

"Shinma? But isn't that Japanese for part god, part demon?" Rapyd asked.

"Yes, it is. But contrary to the Japanese definition, the Shinma I'm referring to isn't part god at all. He's all demon, and he can travel between Dimensions like you, Rapyd," Ferio continued.

"So what does this Shinma have to do with my sister?" Ryver asked.

"Shinma travels around Dimensions, absorbing women for energy," said Ferio.

"Why women? And why does he need energy?" asked Rapyd.

"No one knows why he only absorbs women. He needs energy so he can transport himself to other Dimensions. So once he's absorbed enough energy he travels to another Dimension to get more energy. It's a never-ending cycle, and that's why he has to be stopped," Ferio said.

"So what happened to all the women he absorbed? And my sister?" Ryver asked nervously. Ferio hung his head.

"When Shinma absorbs women, he takes their energy, nothing more. So the bodies still exist. He transports the bodies to his Dimension where they rot away, for there is no one to save them," Ferio said sadly.

"But there has to be a way to save Rayne," Ryver said, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I can just make a portal to his Dimension and then we can just go there and get everyone!" Rapyd chirped up. Ferio shook his head.

"The Dimension that he lives in is so evil, there is no way to make a portal to it. I'm afraid the only one who can travel to Shinma's Dimension is Shinma himself," Ferio replied, downheartedly.

"Hmm...There has to be something we can do!" Rapyd said, tension in her voice.

"I've already tried to think of ways to do something, and no matter what you did, you still wouldn't be able to save Rayne and the others," said Ferio.

"Couldn't we just destroy him?" Rapyd offered.

"And cut off your only link to his Dimension?" Ferio shot back. Vegeta-chan looked up.

What happens if we capture Shinma again?" Vegeta-chan said. Ferio sighed.

"Six hundred years ago, Shinma was released into your world. No one knew who released Shinma. Shinma had been kept in 3 disks scattered over eight Dimensions. That's when I made the Dimension Key. The only way to capture Shinma again is to gather all the disks together again. And would be kind of hard to gather the disks together if you couldn't travel between Dimensions. So I chose Rurika, a Saiyan. She successfully gathered all of the disks and captured Shinma. Now, 600 years later, Shinma has been released again by another evil," explained Ferio.

"So all we have to do is get all of the disks?" Rapyd asked.

"Not exactly. First you must gather all of the disks, and then you must find Shinma," said Ferio.

"Okay then, lets go!" Rapyd shouted.

"Wait, take this," Ferio said, tossing a watch-like object at Rapyd.

"It'll tell you where the disks are!" Ferio added.

"Cool. Dimension Key Power Create a portal to my home dimension!" Rapyd yelled. A portal appeared, and they stepped though to another Dimension.

"Okay...so we're back home again," Vegeta-sama said, standing in front of his house, looking clueless.

"Yea...we kinda need to think some things over...," Rapyd said.

"Think things over!?" Ryver exploded. "MY SISTER IS SITTING AROUND IN SOME DIMENSION ROTTING AWAY AND YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THINKING THINGS OVER?!"

"Well, um, yea. Like what you're gonna do with your kids and what Dimension we're gonna start looking for those disks in," Rapyd said, meekly. Ryver clenched her fists.

"RAHHH!!! I am not going to leave the kids here all by themselves!" Ryver screamed.

"Well they can't come with us; we have enough people as it is," Rapyd said. Ryver growled.

"FINE THEN! Vegeta-sama, you're staying here!" yelled Ryver, pointing at Vegeta-sama. Vegeta-sama blinked.

"Me?!" Vegeta-sama said innocently, putting his hand on his chest. "I thought the other Vegeta was Vegeta-sama." Ryver walked calmly over and slapped Vegeta-sama's head.

"Don't play dumb," Ryver said. Vegeta-sama rubbed his head.

       "Ow..."

"Yes well...um...," Rapyd stuttered, looking down at the little watch thing Ferio gave her. "Look. The watch is showing us where the next Dimension is," Rapyd said, holding out the watch. The group gathered around as a sort of movie sequence was playing. It showed a lot of people going around with swords chopping people up. Rapyd and Ryver's faces paled.

"We're going... there?!" Ryver exclaimed, pointing at the watch.

"I don't wanna get chopped up into little pieces!!" Rapyd yelled. The two Vegetas raised their eyebrows at each other.

"You could just stay here," Vegeta-sama offered.

"But then I guess there would be no hope for Rayne," added Vegeta-chan.

"WHAT?! Fine then. Rapyd, use your little Key thing," Ryver said. Rapyd nodded.

“DIMENSION KEY POWER! TAKE US TO THE DIMENSIOON ON FERIOS DIMENSION WATCH!” Rapyd yelled. Ryver, Vegeta-chan, and Rapyd stepped through the portal to the new Dimension.
