The Prom dance--all highschool students look forward to it. A few days before the graduation day, high school seniors get into groups and take good pictures with their partners, ride in a limo, go to a fancy dinner all together, and spend a few hours dancing at the school. The greatest amount of teenage sex appears on prom night. Today, however, many teenagers put themselves into great risks by having physically intimate relationships anytime and anywhere. very few are aware of the seriousness of the matter which has a great possibility of leading them to greater danger.
Not being adequately prepared for mature relationships, many teenagers in today's society tend to lose control over themselves by crossing over the river from which they can never return again. The transition from young children to teenagers is one of the most significant changes in a young person's life, yet our society offers little guidance in preparing students for this giant leap into maturity. Inadequate preparation for proper, mature sexual relationship can cause teenagers to make the greatest mistake of their lives.
Young adults, especially middle and high school students, need better preparation for getting ready to have sexual relationship. One step in this direction would be to make sure they are aware of the side effects. Because the transition from y9oung childhood to teenage years is difficult, the hlep of adults and provision of practical sex education are deadly necessary for today's teenagers.
Some adults, those who are willing to help the young to learn the real and sacred meaning of sex, are already engaged in producing films or writing books about sex for the sake of teenagers. The drawbacks to these solutions, however, are many. These options often fail to provide extensive or substantive enought an idea of sex. Sex education, by the very nature of young adults, is not so practical in reality; it merely teachers the core of today's problem of teenage sex but rather tries to teach students about biological factos of the matter and to list as many venereal diseases as possible. Young adults, who are in need of an authentic view of sexual relationships, find today's sex education too vague and indirect to answer their private, sexual questions.
Sex education, however, is still the most effective way to infrom young adults about sex in an extended meaningful way. It is just that a bit of revision is needed. Students might learn, from sex education more about biological facts about their own and their partners' bodies and be aware of sexual diseases, about the symptoms and cures for them. Today's sex education, however, has to go through a big change. It needs more practicality. It mus be more realistic about where teenage sex stands today, and what they are in need of. A more powerful notion and greater persuasion are necessary in sex education, that can finally and heartily let students be aware of the real meaning of sexual relationship and the seriousness and sacredness of it.
More and more students find middle and high school sex education unreliable. The intervies from Rockdale documentary show that most American teenagers support the idea of teenage sex and many, themselves, undergo the experience of having abnormal sexual relationships, like group sex. Although sex education is provided annually in the American educational system, most interviewees in the Rockdale documentary seem not to consider it as a proper education; they do not learn so much from it. They take the course only because it is mandatory, yet only a few students find themselves engaged in it.
On the other hand, a national program of mandatory sex ed will affect all students and directly benefit both young people and the country itself--only when applied to practical use. It can go through an alteration and still be a mandatory course, and then become a production that can actually help teenagers find out what sex is and how to prepare for it. To do so, firstly, producers of sex education must learn what students are really in need of, such as private questions. In order to be aware of these issues, the producers of sex education and related scholars need to be more engaged in direct encounters, such as discussions, with young adults. Then, they can do more research and surveys to find out about the reality of teenage sex, and then finally evaluate and review the results. In this way, new sex education, with practical ideas supporting it, will be introduced to the society and finally influence teenagers or even move their minds.
Because so much time has past without any need for change, it is nevertheless difficult for now, to completely move the midns of the young people when it comes to sex education. Howeverm, the time for mandatory sex education and a revolution of it for all young people is now. It is necessary for the young adults to know that they are in need of suppor tor help to find a way to define their own meaning of responsible sex. To do so, a modification to practical and suitable sex education is desperately in need.
