Jumper By Chrissy chrizeela@aol.com Setting: After season finale Characters: Tristan, Tristan's parents, Mr. Medina, refers to Dean, Rory Disclaimer: I don't own "Gilmore Girls" characters or Third Eye Blind's "Jumper" Summary: Tristan encounters horrible events after the season finale and has crazy thoughts And there I was, having to see the only girl I truly loved being kissed by another guy. I could feel my heart breaking into millions of tiny, little pieces. It started to hurt when I tried to breathe the air in. As I walked down the hall at Chilton, everyone was asking me, "You okay, Tristan?" I told them, "Yeah, I'm fine," but deep down, I told myself no way. How can you see the one girl for you, kiss another soul other than yourself?? Horrible!! The day ended and I headed to the newly purchased car my father had bought for me. Instead of treating me nicely, he treats me horribly, then later, makes up for it by buying gifts. Nice father, huh? I started the fresh, new-scented car and began to drive away. To my dismay, I saw Rory again. She didn't even look in my direction. To her, I was no one. To me, she was my everything, the light that cracked through the clouds when a storm was passing. Rory and Dean sped away, so I decided I should get home. Home to what?? A father that treats me like a piece of crap, then feels bad and buys me gifts?? What kind of father-son relationship is that? None! I opened the French door to 846 Windsor Lane and soon heard screaming. This was nothing new in my family, so I just ran upstairs. My radio soon drowned the yelling out. But, that soon brought even louder yelling and footsteps up the stairs. "Tristan! Turn that music down!" cried out my mom. That's when I saw my dad come in. His face was red and his eyes looked like they were about to be flooded with tears in a second. My mom began, "Tristan, sweetheart, we need to tell you something." She looked at my dad, then quickly looked away. "Your dad and I have decided that it's not fair to you be hearing all these yelling matches, so we've decided to separate. I know that it might be hard, but you're just going to have to act like an adult now, okay?" "Yeah mom." Then she said, "Tristan, I'm going to be moving in with my parents. You could come by anytime and visit, okay? I'm sorry this is what our family has had to come to, but I can't help that." With that, she walked down the stairs and out of the house and temporarily out of my life. My dad didn't say anything and left the room. How could my life have come to this in less than a day? I lost the one girl I loved and my parents, my only sense of real support, are splitting up. Life stinks. I couldn't stay in my house because it felt weird not having my mom there. I decided to just go for a drive and figure out what I was going to do in my life. I needed to find a way to be loved and a way to give love. When I got back from my drive, not even my dad was at home. I went into my bedroom and cried myself to sleep. Next Morning "Get up all you sleepy heads, it's 6:30 and time to start your day!" said the radio announcer. I didn't want to get up, but I didn't just want to sit around and cry about my life all day. I got up, took a shower, got dressed, and left without eating breakfast so that I wouldn't have to see my dad. As I stepped in Chilton, I saw hundreds of faces staring at me. Was there something wrong with me?? I quickly got into the bathroom and looked in the mirror, and saw that my eyes were red. I couldn't help my eyes being red, so I just went to class. That's when my heartache grew worse. I saw Rory come in with a little picture of Dean in her coat pocket, eewwww! But then I got really jealous. I would have made some smart comment, but I didn't say anything. Mr. Medina broke us off into groups to discuss our family life so that we could compare it to the books' characters: The Ingalls' (Laura Ingalls Wilder) My group was Mike, Chad, Emma, and Rory. From each person speaking, their family life was awesome. Mike and Chad went fishing and did a lot with their dads and even went shopping with their moms. Emma and Rory talked about how their mom was the best and was their best friend. They did everything together. Then it was my turn, I said, "Everything's fine, we talk and stuff." That's all I said and then a minute later, Mr. Medina said, "Time's up!" "What did we all learn about each other's families?? I hope good things. Each family shares a unique sense of togetherness. Tristan, why don't you talk about your family." Normally, I don't get nervous when I get called on, but my face got really hot and red. Why does he have to do this to me, I thought. "Um, my family's is...my family is....a..." I couldn't take it anymore, I ran out the door and started crying. I broke down in the hallway and couldn't hold it in anymore. I heard footsteps, so I ran away, out of Chilton. Rory's P.O.V. Mr. Medina asked me to go out in the hallway and check up on Tristan. At first I thought, oh great, here comes another fight, but then I remembered the way he looked. He looked like he was about to cry in a second or two. I felt soo bad for him. I opened the door to go out into the hallway. I sort of saw Tristan hunched over on the floor, then I saw him run. Where was he going??? Is he okay?? I ran outside and started to follow him to make sure he was okay. Tristan's P.O.V. I got into my car and starting driving any place where it didn't include Chilton or my parents. I turned near the highest bridge I knew. I turned the radio really loud so that I wouldn't have to think about anything. I stopped on the bridge and got out and left the car door open. That's when I heard this song on the radio about how I felt: I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend, You could cut ties with all the lies That you've been living in, And if you do not want to see me again, I would understand. I would understand, The angry boy, A bit too insane, Icing over a secret pain, You know you don't belong, You're the first to fight, You're way too loud, You're the flash of light, On a burial shroud, I know something's wrong, Well everyone I know has got a reason To say, put the past away, I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend, You could cut ties with all the ties, That you've been living in, And if you do not want to see me again, I would understand, I would understand. Well he's on the table, And he's gone to code, And I do not think anyone knows, What they are doing here, And your friends have left, You've been dismissed, I never thought it would come to this, And I, I want you to know, Everyone's got to face down the demons, Maybe today, We can put the past away I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend, You could cut ties with all the lies, that you've been living in, And if you do not want to see me again, I would understand, I would understand, I would understand... Can you put the past away, I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend, I would understand... I couldn't take the pain or feeling of love being taken away from me anymore. I felt useless, but I couldn't forget about what had happened yesterday. As I neared the railing on the bridge, I heard a voice call out. "Don't jump!" I didn't look back because my mind had been made; I felt like no one had loved me, so I started climbing the railing. While climbing, I looked down. The height of the bridge didn't scare me. As I was lifting my leg up to the next rail, someone grabbed me and pulled me to safety. I fell on top of them, then lost consciousness. In about half an hour, I regained all of my senses and looked into the eyes of the woman I loved, Rory. Had she saved me?? When she saw that I was awake, she started crying with joy. "Tristan, why were you going to jump?" "I just had a really bad two days. The worst that you could ever imagine." "You scared me sooo much. I really thought you were going to jump." "How did you know I was here?" "After I saw you running out of Chilton, I followed you in my moms jeep. I was trying to find a traffic station when I heard "Jumper" and thought about you and how you wouldn't respond to how your family life was like. "Thank you Rory, really, thank you." "You don't need to thank me, I'm just glad that I helped save my only friend at Chilton." "Friend?" "Friend" Later on After the horrible breakup between Dean and Rory, healing from the breakup, Rory turns to Tristan, her friend, for support. This support from her friend developed into a beatiful relationship of marriage between Tristan and Rory. The end!!
