Title: Crazy World Author: Emily E-Mail: crashem9@yahoo.com Distribution Statement: Anyone. Spoiler Warning: Up to Nick & Nora, Sid & Nancy. Rating: PG to PG-13 Pairing: Rory/Jess Summary: I won't give up a lot. It's just a fic where Jess and Rory find their way to each other. Although there is Dean in this story, there is no Tristan Disclaimer: I don't own anything. A.N.: I finally got the courage to write a fic of my own for the very first time, so don't be too hard on me. Be sure to review! Let me know whether or not I should continue this. Rory arrives back from Chilton in the afternoon. Dean meets her at the bus stop. He then starts to walk her home. While taking her home, he starts to talk to her. "Rory, I don't think that we're spending enough time together. Lately you have been spending way too much time with Luke's nephew. I hardly ever see you anymore." "His name is Jess," Rory says. "He's new here. I'm just being friendly and showing him around Dean. Anyway, we have been spending time together. You're just over reacting." "No I'm not. Jess is trouble. I know what I'm talking about. You just don't want to see the fact that he's a bad kid. I do not want you to hang out with him anymore Rory." "Dean, you can't tell me who I can and can't hang out with. I'm not a little kid!" "I only want what's best for you Rory." "Well, I think that if anyone can decide what's best for me it should be me and not you," Rory argues with him. "You obviously aren't doing that," Dean replies. "Jess is just going to use you. He isn't the perfect little angel that you seem to think that he is." "I never said that he was an angel. And how can you go about judging someone that you don't even know. It's not at all fair Dean." "Rory, I may not know him, but I know his type. They are no good. You don't want to see the truth. You have to choose between keeping me as your boyfriend or being friends with him." "You are being so immature. Why are you doing this?" "You haven't chosen between us yet Rory." "Fine," Rory replies, "you want me to chose? I'll choose. Since you don't trust me at all, I don't think that we should be together anymore." "Fine," Dean exclaims. "Goodbye Rory." He then storms off. "Bye," Rory whispers after him as she watches him leave her. As she heads home she tries to prevent the tears from coming. "Did I do the right thing," she starts to ask herself. "Everything was going so well. I thought that we were past all of the obstacles." She pauses before answering herself, "Of course you did the right thing. How could you be with Dean if he didn't trust you?" She then starts to laugh. "Wow there Rory, now you're starting to talk to yourself. Not a good sign." Rory then starts to feel bad again. She continues her inner struggle and finds herself right outside Luke's Diner. Once she reaches the diner, suddenly Jess comes out. "Hey Rory," he says. He then sees her tear stained face. "What's wrong?" "Nothing," she says, brushing away her tears. After a stern look from Jess she breaks down. "Dean and I just broke up." "Oh, too bad. Is there any way that I can help?," he asks. "No," Rory replies sadly, "it's too late. Dean and I are over for good." "Um...Rory, I know that we aren't really good friends, but do you maybe want to talk about it?" "Well, we just kind of grew apart. End of story." "No. That's never the end of the story. There's always some big reason why people break up." "He just wouldn't trust me. I mean how can I be with someone who doesn't trust me?," she starts to sound tired. "Oh, that kind of a break up." Jess reaches out and takes her hand. "Come on." "Jess, where are we going," Rory whines. She realizes that she's beginning to like the feel of Jess's hand around hers. She quickly snatches it away and reprimands herself for her thoughts. "We, my lady, are going to the park. It will make you feel better." "Okay, but I have to be home soon. My mom will be worried about me and I'm sure that Luke wouldn't like it if you were out too late." "Luke doesn't like it if I do anything other than help, go to school, or do homework. Honestly, I don't see how I'm going to be able to live here," Jess replies. "Jess, he's just worried about you. He doesn't want you to turn out bad." "Maybe he could lighten up a bit though. If he should be worried about anything concerning me he should be worried about me dying of boredom." Or starting to become attracted to you, he adds silently to himself. "Just help out and do what he tells you, then maybe he'll light up a bit," Rory says. By now they've reached the park. "You see," Jess says. "I've made you forget all about Dean. So lets keep it that way. How was the dungeon." "School is not a dungeon. But, it actually went reasonably okay. I told you about Max, didn't I?" She waits until she sees him nod. "Well, we aren't nervous to be around each other anymore. We're past that, which I think is great." "So," Jess says, "things are going good in that department. How are things going in the Paris department, though?" "Better, although she still hates me. We agreed to coexist though. That is probably the only improvement." "If you ask me that doesn't sound like much of an improvement." "You don't know Paris. In that respect, it's a gigantic improvement. Well, now it's on to you. How was your day?" "Not all that great. Everything that we are doing is completely boring." "Come on. It can't be that bad." "Believe me Rory, it's hell over there. I don't see how anyone can like school." While saying this he sends a pointed stare toward Rory. "It's not that bad Jess," Rory defends herself. "Well, I guess that we should head back to Luke's. My mom is probably there right now anyway." "So, what's the story between those two?," Jess asks. "They love each other, but they don't realize it. I think that there might be a neighborhood poll on when they'll get together." They then reach the diner and enter. Sure enough Luke is being the counter serving coffee to Lorelei. When Luke sees the two teenagers he starts to talk to Jess. "Where were you?" "I was just out walking with Rory," Jess answers. Luke looks to Rory for conformation. "Ya Luke," Rory says, "he was out walking with me. "Hey daughter," Lorelei chimes in, "I have the coffee. We're going home to celebrate the success of Mission Impossible 3. Bye Luke Bye Jess." "Bye guys," Rory says while being dragged out of the diner. Once they get out, Lorelei starts to talk. "I don't see how you can stand him. He's so disagreeable." "Mom, he's not that bad. I have to talk to you. I broke up with Dean this afternoon. We broke up because he wouldn't trust me and he didn't want me to be friends with Jess anymore. Do you think that I did the right thing?" "Wow," Lorelei looks stunned, "if he didn't trust you then I guess that you did the right thing. Did you tell Jess?" "Yes, but not about the part involving him." "Well, you'll have to tell him eventually. But, let's go. We have a night of moping to do." T.B.C.
