This is the same day as the next block, but it is important enough that it has its own block. The soldiers that were committing human rights violations in Iraq, in my opinion, are lower than wormshit. I would lump them in with Uday Hussein for their violation of peoples humanity. They are not 'poor quality soldiers' they are criminals. The same way that I do not want anyone of Arab descent being judged as evil because of the actions of Usama bin Laden, I hope that the American Soldiers are not judged on the actions of these few dirt bags. I would not want anyone to think that I am a terrorist threat because I am of Irish Catholic descent, the same as the terrorist wing of the IRA. I would not want anyone to think that I am a terrorist because I am a clean cut white guy that hates paying taxes and has an Irish last name (a la Timothy McVeigh). I do not want anyone to think that Muslims are bad, or that Iraqis are bad, they are not. The few that perpetrate crimes like beheading civilians are evil. The ones that dragged burned civilian bodies through a street while singing and dancing are evil. Likewise, the abusers of the Iraqi prisoners are not examples of United States Soldiers, they are evil, despicable criminals. I beg you not to judge me or my people by their actions.

Well, I have passed the final, and therefore the Tactical Action Officer portion of the Department Head School. I certainly feel smarter, though I expect that will dissipate. I have discovered my first beer is a 'wee heavy' type of Scotch Ale. My wife's mother and father are in town this week, so my wife cooked up a great meal. Along with two deserts. Mmmm, cheesecake... Oh, a few days ago I was working on a page for my next batch of beer and after over a half hour of work the program locked and lost the document. I saved twice during that time. It was not all formatting either, most of it was content! Arghhh!

I just made more beer, a scottish ale this time. The Red Sox had the best record in baseball for five days and are now in catastrophic collapse mode. I should be at work studying, but my wife tempted me with a homemade bread that I have to taste test, but first it needs to cool. I stole a cookie from her today. OK, I just tried two variants of her Mango-Poppy Seed bread. Both are pretty damn good. I have to go study, Cheers!

02 MAY 04 I like the Red Sox, but NESN needs to stop playing this add. It has become my new favorite song, and I don't even like it. It haunts me!! "Take a chance, make it happen, Pop a cork, fingers snapping, Spin the wheel, 'round and 'round we go! Life is good, life is sweet, Grab yourself a front row seat, Let's meet, and have a ball, Let's live for the wonder of it all!
"Paradise, lucky seven, Grab yourself a piece of heaven, You and me, we can have it all! Living large, get on board, This is it, it's your reward, Let's meet, where the trees are standing tall, Let's live for the wonder of it all! MEET ME AT FOX-WOODS!" Another thought for the day, I have a gym bag that is older than many of my junior sailors (20 year-old bag, 18 year-old sailors). It has been to more states and countries than most Americans have (34 states, 15 countries).
