BLANCHE STRATTON (Nee Gillespie),died Sept 26th at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Williamsport. She was the wife of Herbert O. Stratton. Blanche was born Dec 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Malcolm Gillespie. She was a homemaker and obtained her RN degree. Surviving are her husband, and daughter Kay Phillps of Gettysburg, five grandchildren.

ROBERT S. "Bob" GILLESPIEage 88, passed awy on Saturday, Aug 23, 2003 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was a resident for 54 years. Bob was born in Lemars, IA, and after graduating from the public school system, attended Western Union College in LeMars He graduated from the University of Illinois, and later earned an advanced degree from the University of Iowa.  He served in the US National Guard, followed by three years in the US Army. He was assigned to a submarine command, serving in the Mediterranean area and the Middle East. Bob and his wife, Virginia, moved to Albuquerque in 1949, when he became a member of the faculty in the Department of Journalism at the University of New Mexico. After several years at the university, Bob took a position with Sandia Labratories as a technical writer. He retired in 1977. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 54 years, Virginia  Fleck Gillespie of LeMars, IA and Dallas, TX. Other members of Bob's family to predecease him were: Dr. James B. Gillespie of Champain, IL, and sisters Katherine Troxer of California, and Marion Templeman of New Mexico. He is survived by his daugher, Virginia C. "Ginger" Gilespie and son in law William "Biff" Thompson of Alluquerque; and son Charles S. Gillespie and his wife, Francis of Stagecoach, TX. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Nathan and Kaleena Thompson of Albuquerque, Katherine & Rachel Gillespie of Stagecoach, TX, nieces and nephews: Connie Coats, Kathy Watkins, JOhn & Joan Templeman, and Bill & Barbara Templeman of Sante Fe, Ginger Troxier of California, James & Emily Gillespie of Florida, and Emily Henry and Robin Troxler of Massachusetts. Graveside service will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, Aug 29th, 2003..

LINDA GROOT GILLESPIE, age 54, passed awy unexpectedly July 28, 2003 in Houston. She was a lifelong Lutheran, having attended Trinity Lutheran School, Lutheran High School an Stephen F. Austin University. Linda is the daughter of Margaret Groot and the late Cal Groot. She is predeceased by her sister, Judy Knott and husband Johnnie, brother Richard  Groot and wife Susan, and several loving nieces, nephews, and relatives. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 am on Saturday, Aug 2nd in the chapel of the Settegast-Kopf Co. A funeral service will follow at 10 am. A  graveside service and committal will follow in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Submitted by Anni

HARRY EDWARD GILLESPIE,
81, of Russellville, Arkansas, died Monday, May 26, 2003 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Centre. A son of the late Henry Harrison and Birl Gillespie, he was born August 10, 1921 at Fordyce. He was a retired electrician for International Paper Co. in Camden, a US Army vet of W.W.II, and was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by a brother, Robert Charles Gillespie. Survivors include his wife, Marie Bennett Gillespie, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard & Ruth Gillespie of Russellville, two daughters and sons in law, Judy & David Tyson of Hardon, Texas, three grandchildren & a grandson-in-law: Becky & Jeff Tyson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Sean & Kristine Phillips, both of Little Rock, and two great-grandchildren, Abbie & Leah Fry.
