*I am*
                              -Gill Boyd
Who am I? I guess I am not all that I am going to be, but for today in this moment in time, I will tell you a little about myself and the way I learn best. My name is Gill also pronounced as Jill (I know it is spelt different but hey what can I do?) I have lived in Vermont my whole life. My family and I are very busy running our family farm throughout the year. I am very interested in science and that is why I joined my local rescue squad about a year ago. I am now a first responder and I am looking forward to taking my EMT class. During the school year I also like to play sports. I am a very athletic person, soccer is the name of the game! I am also involved in many groups within my community and school such as the Deerfeild Valley Community Partnership, Girl Scouts, Church group, Outing Club, Student Council, and Leadership. Boy, do I have the travelers bug! I went to China this summer and believe me I want to see more! I am always ready and willing for adventures. This quote explains my veiw on life ~
" As we grow we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend and you might even fall in love. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing so fast and you'll eventually loose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too hard, and love like you've never been hurt because every minute you spend mad or upset is a minute of happiness that you'll never get back."
Alrighty, lets just get down to business, shall we? What does all that stuff above mean?  It means that I am a social butterfly, hands on, active, kinda gal. Today, I am going to tell you a little about my learning style. There are some styles that keep the A's coming and some that get the F's dropping and of course there are those in-between wana be B's.

Right on the Money: My style ~

Visual is my style. Tabs, graphs, organizers, power points, and diagrams you name it. They all work for me. Pictures stay in my mind and I love to be able to look back on the graphs and diagrams as a reference.

. Being itnterpersonal was one of the highest scores and that clearly explains me and my learning style.. Working with others is how I learn best. I as any person have strengths and weaknesses. The advantage with that is that each student or group that I work with has their own strengths and weaknesses and by working togather you can work off eachothers strengths, which gives you not only a stronger answer but also a better grasp of the subject.

Another wonderful learning style that worked very well for me was bodily/kinesthetic. I like movment and energy. Using your arms and body to explain somthing is an awesome way for me to remember something. Being hands on lets me get involved and really experiment. Chemistry is a good example of hands on. For example, all the labs that are done. Imagine just being told about reaction time and melting points, would you understand the concepts completely? ( that hurts my brain to even think of such a thing! )

Now...the in -between not really sure where to put these answers.....
I always thought music had a huge impact on my learning ablity. Although, I soon learned that musical learning  isnt how I learn or how I dont learn its just in- between.  Music in my life is very important. I enjoy doing my homework to music manily because it keeps me calm and prevents me from getting frustrated. In general music keeps me happy, and when I am happy, I learn well, so all in all I was suprised to see how little music affects my learning ablitlies.

I have always thought that I worked better in groups and that was proven in my results. Although, I had never thought of being an intrapersonal learner my results show that I do like to work alone once in awhile. That makes sense beacuse for me its day to day. If I am having a bad day of course I dont want to be a people person. ( I mean really who does? )

Now.....my weakness ( Oh come on we all have them! )

The lowest score I recevied on one of the nine learning styles was the verbal/linguistic. My results clearly show that being  linguistic is just not me. Long lectures and long readings just dont work for me. I have a hard time remembering long written paragraphs.  It is very hard for me to make a connection if I dont have some kind of visual aid (graph, picture, diagram ect.) Many challenges that I face in my education are lectures and mathametical problems. I dont learn very well if I am not actively stimulated or involved..

My logical/mathematical score was not a pretty site. However, I was not shocked in the least bit. The challenges I face in school are usually mathametical problems. I usually struggle to the point of giving up with mathametical problems. Logic has a huge impact on my learning. I like to have logical reasons for things that I am doing not only in class but in life. Although, math just isnt for me, I get very angry and I hate all the rules that apply!!!
