GILLAM SNOWMOBILE CLUB MEETING MINUTES

Date: September 5th , 2001

Attendees:     Will Gray     Luke Bouma     Ray Gusnoski     Earl Brown

Discussion of the following:

grooming trail exits from Gillam
snowmobile signs up for the plow to know where to leave a trail dug out at road crossings.
Road crossings should be cleared well enough for good vision for snowmobilers safety.
D.C. Line work - possibility of getting the new trail pushed through between the D.C. and the KN36 line. There is about 1 mile left to have cleared around tower #53.
Tom Zeliniski may do some work on cleaning brush on some trails around town?
start marking designated trails
Hydro is open to paying for signs for the trails
We have some corrugated signs left to put up
The start of some trails should be posted with a Gillam Snowmobile club sign.
Talk to Thompson club about grooming a trail joining between Gillam and Thompson. Good for tourism. Could talk to Sno Man in Winnipeg about giving them information promoting this trail. Check for Thompson’s Interest. Will to talk to Thompson Club again.
May have a opportunity with Tom Stirling’s group to share some of the costs of grooming the Gillam-Ilford route if its done early.
Possible poker derby with hydro sponsorship. Hydro could pay for fuel for grooming the poker derby trail. The proceeds raised could go to a charity of Hydro’s choice. Will will talk with Bill.
Permit for grooming received by Will Gray.
Will cancelled the permit for the ski-hill shack.
There is some cleanup required where the ski shack was. I talked to Mike stones and he said he would talk to Brent and Ray Wagner and they could possibly bike out and put some of the smaller trash in barrels that are out there. Will may bike out before the snow flies and do some cleaning as well.
Advertise on TV for new membership drive. Will Gary.

Could talk to Mr. Soloway about trail to York Factory/Churchill
Warm-up shack interest
Will ahs a line on a small stove
Shack could go to D.C. Line and New trail junction.
Ray Gusnoski now’s where there could be two more small stove’s
grooming all the way out to the end of the Butnau trail this year.
Discussion on whether we should make all our trails Sno-Man trails or not.
    Membership costs are much higher
    Would need it enforced
Sno man may force us to go into full sno man memberships
Passes are much more expensive than our current fees
Multimachine family’s will suffer as they would have to pay for a sticker for each machine.
