News in My Life
9/13/03 - So, I went to Provincetown on Cape Cod this weekend, WHAT a condo that Heather hooked up for us, it was great!  Wed went out Saturday night to what turned out to be a gay club - so we were, i think, the only 4 girls there, and no one cared, bummer. I was even going el camando and on one cared!!!! (yes, don't looked so shocked, I can do it once in a GREAT while and only in the presense of gay men, hee hee - Brian and Jeff, don't look so excited!)

The cape was fun, really beatiful, I walked along the beach today and, hopefully, got some great shots - only time will tell when I develop and print right?  Oh, and there are SO many dogs in P town, it was great, I really want a dog!  Also, ran into a little tabby cat with attitude, it was great!  I love cats with attitude, remind me of Shadow - now there was a great pet, she made you earn her love and then was loyal, didn't whore herself out to just anyone willing to pet her like all the dogs do - I miss my little gray ball of fur:(  Oh, back to Saturday night- for those of you worried and keeping track, I had lots of pizza and veggies before drinking (there was an unfortunate incident last weekend involving me, no food all day, lots of wine and whisky.............didn't end well)  So, this weekend went much better!  Oh, and aftering spending way too much time at the gay bar, we found Alex, the fun tattoo guy, and his dingo dog, he chatted with us at least!   Hmm, Sasha and Dave (Heather's friends) showed up later today, and then Sam and I had to leave - damn property at 9 am! On the way home  I decided that Harvard Square is the 7th level of hell for drivers.  And oh, honey has a hole in her eyeball, that sort of stresses me out, but I guess they have surgery for that sort of thing.  And oh, I got on the law day/ barristers ball thing for school, anyone suprised?:)  Now, since I spent a weekend playing, time to study.

Oh, one more thing, I love living in a city where I get lots of free news - however, is the Boston Globe having trouble selling papers? I get 2-3 per week free, shoved at me, like I get no option and then I can't read it on the T and it ends up taking up way too much room in my backpack - whereas I'm quite content reading the Metro and Weekly Dig which are free, and much smaller papers!  It's just odd to have a Boston Globe dude at the T like "here, free Globe, no take it! please take it!" its quite desparate really!

9/10/03 - Ok, I decided I needed a place to just rant about the going on's in my life. Yes, I have a rant section on the page already and you are thinking, "but Mel, how much ranting do you need to do?" Oh trust me, plenty!  Besides, I wanted a space to rant where I didn't feel pressure to be coherent! So, here it is!

First, I love living in Boston, but most of you know that. However, as I'm sure you expect, I can still find things to bitch about, oh trust me, it's a talent!  First, the T!  Are all people stupid?  Or just can't they move at a speed known to man?  I travel on the T to and from class every single day and I never ride it without some level of frustration.  Yesterday - I get on the T, and next to me is "hacking man", I honestly and truly felt bad he was sick, but to be honest, I was more concerned with the fact that the poor man hacking up a lung was hacking all over me.  Yep, I need to get sick right now.  Then, I get smelly man coming in, he hangs on to the pole above my head (ok, that I expect that given my height, but still) and he apparantly hasn't showered or used deoderant in days.  More than that though, becuase that's sort of expected anyway, what REALLY pisses me off is people that move like they seem in no particular hurry to get anywhere and they insist upon standing in front of me, and won't move! grrr.  I'm on a mission people!

So, my life now consists of cases upon cases, I swear, give me a few weeks, I will have nothing at all interesting to talk about (shut up Sam, don't even say it!) Seriously, we are in the library giggling about stupid cases - is this normal??!? Just a couple examples (i said  i was running out of interesting things - i'm suffering from a lack of life due to sitting in a library all day!) anyway, first case to make me giggle - a plaintiff's spouse is suing for loss of consortium (that is loss of love and affection from a spouse, or engaging activity - I read, loss of getting any) so this leads us to sit around and start a discussion about whether you should be able to sue for lack of consortuim, not loss mind you, just lack in general -this is important, we are all single, so were thinking, stressful time in life, and we have no consortium, it's a shame really, and consortium is a stress relief that would come in handy right about now..........

Second stupid case?  So, this one just represents all that is wrong with the legal system. Idiot #1 walks into an auto mechanic's garage, offering to help mechanic (Idiot #2) fix some fuel tank.  So, two said idiots contemplate moving the vehicle without a fuel tank.  Idiot #1 suggests that they pour gas into the carburator. Now, this is my first, WTF??! moment, becuase despite the fact that I know little to nothing about cars (can't even spell carburator) I know that gas in a carburator is probably not the best plan.  So, car backfires and burns Idiot #1 - big suprise.  He sues Idiot #2 for negligence!  It was his idea and HE sued?!?!?!!? I don't get it- so I can come up with stupid ideas and then sue my friends for negligence because they let me do it?!?!? Pretty much, however, he didn't recover damages thank goodness!

So, I just made macaroni and tomato juice for dinner ( I know, I'm odd, but those of you that i've made try it, you KNOW you've liked it!) and used low sodium tomato juice - which translates to tastes like crap! Yeck.  Time to find other sources of nourishment!

On a good note - this weekend Heather and I are going to the Cape, Provincetown - I'm very excited, never been to the cape.  Plus, the weekend after that, NESL"s Harbor Cruise, aka "the booze cruise"  whoo hoo! Plus, next week is NESL week, which, from what I can tell translates to free food week, so that's a plus.  Sam (Boston Sam, who is tall, not Sam from home) and I are running for SBA reps for our class, mainly so the "oh me me me" kids in class won't get it - damn they annoy me!  But, is anyone really suprised that I would be doing this? Didn't think so, I think i need help - are there meetings for people like me (oh wait, Sara? Jon?  Jeff? Didn't we already start overjoiners annonymous?  Yea, we have problems!)

So, I think I'm going to stop babbling now - I think if I can find Heather's discman, I will go for a little walk. (hey, i'm TRYING to be active ok?
