Peregrine comes from several sources. First, there's Peregrin Took. He was one of the
three Hobbits who traveled with Frodo at the end of the Third Age. Then there's the
Peregrine Falcon -- fast and powerful. Finally, there's St. Peregrine, patron of
those suffering from cancer, AIDS, or other life-threatening diseases.
