Sweet Revenge

Brynn was bustling around the office in a hurry. God, get me through today and I'll never harm another person. A picture of her sister drifted through her mind, along with the name Alex Jay, Okay, excluding him! But there always exceptions to everything!
With the phone ringing once again, Brynn groaned, this was already getting tiring for today. Sliding on her headpiece she hit the talk button, "Picture Perfect, this is Brynn and how may I help you today?"
There was silence and she cringed inside, her mind already thinking of Brandy and being hurt anew by the now infamous Alex Jay. She waited for the muffled sobs, the sniffles, and the crying from her dear younger naive sister.
"Yes, this is AJ." The voice finally answered.
AJ? Brynn questioned herself mentally for a moment, "AJ from last week's dinner party, AJ?" She asked tentatively, her mind slowly and hesitantly placing a name with a face. "The not an extra waiter AJ?"
A quiet chuckle was her first answer, then, "Yes, that AJ."
She smirked into the mouthpiece and started clicking away at her computer, pulling up a new form. "Ah yes," She replied a bit caustically, "the one who locked me out of the kitchen to leave me riding the bus home AJ. Only to come back the next morning and find my car towed AJ. And then pay the fine AJ."
Silence again, "I did that?" He asked softly.
"Mmhmm." She answered her head bobbing, already busy with thoughts on a catering job. "But that doesn't matter, what matters is what you've called here for and why."
She expected a direct answer in a purely professional voice like she'd usually get. He stunned her when his answer was purely mocking and teasing, "Why, to have a party catered of course."
Her teeth clenched, "Of course." She replied noncommittally. "Would you like to tell me what you have in mind, or would you rather have it done for you?"
"Hmm," He murmured, drawing out the conversation.
Brynn bit her lower lip, Oh come on, this isn't astrophysics or anything. Her mind taunted him, It's quite simple, do you think you could pull off such a good job, or do you trust the professional's?
She thought on that question and her lips quirked wryly. If she were somebody else and knew herself, she wouldn't trust her to make the party good.
The sound of her customer talking drew her from her small daydreaming. "Yes?" She asked, clearing her throat and turning back into the worker.
"How about, I give you the night to work on something, and we go over it tomorrow? Say around lunchtime?"
If Brynn didn't bite her tongue she would have laughed out loud and died with a smile on her face. "Depends." She responded lightly.
He laughed, "Depends on what, Brynn?"
Okay, she didn't really mind him using her name but it sounded a lot different when he said it than anyone else. "Depends on what time you eat lunch."
She could hear the smile in his voice, "Tomorrow, I'll eat lunch whenever you do."
Shaking her head she wondered exactly what she was getting in to. "Okay, AJ." She replied finally, "Tomorrow, quarter 'til one, I'll be here at the office."
"Not a problem." He answered, "I'll be there too."
She laughed, "You better take me someplace good too!" She warned before hanging up on his laughter without saying goodbye.
