Sighing softly, Brynn went back to work, she was having her share of unco-operating waiters, she didn't need anymore.
She was just getting one dispute between to waitresses over when the hostess came in, in a rage.
Mentally, Brynn groaned and stepped up to the old lady. "Yes, ma'am, can I help you? Is there something wrong?" She questioned politely.
She nodded sharply, "Would you care to explain to me why one of my most known guests is carrying around a tray of crab claws?" She asked stiffly, "He insists that you, Miss Carlson, are responsible for it."
Alarmed, a small gasp escaped from her mouth before Brynn took a calm breath. "I'll go take care of it personally." She said coolly. "Please except my sincere apologies."
Her head shook, "Just go get that tray from him!"
Nodding, Brynn took off through the swinging doors and searched the room for the non-waiter waiting. Spotting him talking with a group and serving them, she walked steadily towards him. "Excuse me," She cut in softly but firmly. "But I will take this."
Her hands took the tray with a swiftness that startled the young man. "Forgive the mistake." She remarked before walking away, her head high and her ego bruised.
Getting back behind the kitchen doors, Brynn moved to the side and leaned against the cold wall. She bit her lip, Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry. She chastised herself. You're stronger than that, it was one little mishap, nothing's going to happen from it.
She knew she was lying, the hostess of this party had a million acquaintances and friends. She could bring down 'Picture Perfect' with just a few chats.
Packing up her guts, she stood up and straightened her shoulders. Then handed the tray to an idle waitress and continued on with her job. Determined to finish it out before breaking down and giving in to a good cry.
AJ stood in shock at the lady, who had given him the tray in the first place, just took it from him.
"Friend of yours?" Brian asked smiling.
His head shook, "Just talked to her tonight." He admitted. "But have yet to really meet her."
Kevin gave him a knowing look, "From the way she looked," He pointed out slowly, "I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon."
"I know." AJ agreed. "But that doesn't mean I won’t."
They all smiled at his bold statement; it was just like him to go against the grain.
"Well, at least if we ever burn out," Brian started, "We all know AJ could become a fabulous waiter."
Chuckling lightly, they all separated again to try and mingle nicely with the others.
