HEIRLOOM BROWN BREAD
- 2 Cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 Cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 Cup chopped dates
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Cup raisins
Layer the ingredients in the order given into a wide mouth 1-quart canning jar. Pack each layer in place before adding the next ingredient. Attach a gift tag with the mixing and baking directions.
COOKING DIRECTIONS:
- 1 jar Heirloom Brown Bread Mix
- 2 Cups buttermilk
- 1/2 Cup molasses
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, place the Heirloom Brown Bread mix. Make a well in the center. Mix wet ingredients and pour into dry mixture. Stir until the mixture is blended. Let stand at room temperature for 1/2 hour. Pour into a large loaf pan. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes. Cool in the pan on a wire rack before removing.
