Looking Back FEBRUARY 2006
A wet month kept a lot of our club's athletes indoors in February. Despite this, several RIO Track athletes took any opportunities they could to compete.
On February 11, Rio The "Icebreaker Open" (February 18) at Humboldt State University was one of the few competitions that we were able to attend. The RIO Track Club had 6 youth athletes and 1 adult athlete compete in 3 track events. Jerrin and Ashley both ran in the 1500 meter race. They then joined some of their teammates including Kiersten and Tana in the 150 meter sprint. Coach Quintal also ran in the 150 meter sprint. Everyone joined forces to compete in the 4x200 meter relay.
ABOUT US
The RIO Track Club has been created to teach young boys and girls about the sport of track and field, how physical fitness can be fun, and how to work hard to accomplish a goal. Athletes in the RIO Track Club will learn to take pride in their accomplishments.
The RIO Track Club will work with the school track and field team-in other words, the RIO Track Club will not take the place of the school track and field program. Instead, it will help to get athletes ready for the school track and field team by giving them more practices and competitions. Practices are scheduled to take place before the school track program begins in March. Club practices will start up again in June, after the school track program ends.
