Prior to his commencement in the field of Tae-Kwon-Do 

He spent six years in the Trinidad-Tobago Armed Forces 

and in that period become an accomplished welter-weight boxer

In 1973 he started his Tae-Kwon-Do  career with Grand Master 

Jong Park Soo in Toronto. In 1980 he became the North American

Light-Weight Gold Medallist in the Tae-Kwon-Do.
