Some stats that make some interesting reading are the competition analysis (link to the offical website) which breaks down each athletes swim in almost every way imaginable - starts, turns, stroke length and speed -- Giaan's stats are page 6. With the figures comparing this morning's swim to her best race time (which oddly, is different to what her PB is listed as elsewhere...!?) it's definitely worth a look at the comparisons, I think! :)

Australia will also swim in the 4 X 200m freestyle relay tomorrow morning (AEST), with a time of 8:07.97 in the morning's heats seeing them qualify in 7th fastest.
Giaan swum a 2:02.41 to lead off, with Linda Mackenzie's 2:00.72 as our third swimmer the fastest of the Aussie girls. Heidi Crawford swum 2:02.72, with Melanie Houghton anchoring the team with a time of 2:02.12.
Before the heats, I would have been pretty certain the final team would consist, in some order, Rooney, Mackenzie, Mills and Graham, but now with the heats swum and Houghton posting a marginally faster time than Giaan, there is the chance that the coaches will select her for the final.
As bias as this may sound, I believe that Giaan's 200m freestyle credentials and relay experience should see her get the nod.
It's another case of "only time will tell!" but I've got no doubt whatever the decision may be, the coaches will make the right one -- they are the pro's now, right! ;).
