| Some Q & A: |
| WHEN DID YOU FIRST BECOME INTERESTED IN ACTING? CMM: I don't know... I kind of always had a gut feeling about it. I always enjoyed watching movies when I was a little kid. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST ROLE? CMM: (laughs) Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul HOW DID YOU GET THAT? CMM: I just read for it. I went on an audition over two years ago: it was for a little 17-year-old rich boy and I got the part! WHAT WAS THAT EXPERIENCE LIKE? MOVING TO LA FROM BUFFALO? CMM: It was different because I didn't know anybody, so it was a very lonely experience. I guess I would say. I just kind of took a shot and moved out. WHICH OF YOUR ROLES HAS BEEN THE MOST FUN SO FAR? CMM: I mean, I don't know if I would say the "most fun" - they've all been different. Charlie has been a riot because I've just had more to do with them than I've ever had to do with anybody else. I mean, I guess it would be Charlie. But they all have their little fun quirks. WHICH OF THE FEMALE CHARACTERS ON DAWSONS CREEK DO YOU THINK MAKES THE BEST MATCH FOR CHARLIE? CMM: Well, I don't know. I know who Charlie feels the most attracted to, but probably his best match would be Audrey. (laughs) that is probably his best match, but I think Joey is more his choice. WE HEARD YOU'RE GOING TO BE SARRING IN YOUR OWN SERIES! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THAT? CMM: Oh yeah- I'm doing the "Lone Ranger"! It's just a beautiful script. It's really a great story and it's set in 1866. It's kind of like a western. It's going to be nice. (laughs) WHAT'S GOING TO BE THE MOST XHALLENGING ASPECT OF FILMING THIS SERIES? CMM: Just I guess that it's our four corners of emotion. It involves a lot of work - it really does. There are emotional scenes: there are 2 action scenes, there are happy go lucky scenes and more tearful scenes. It's an emotional roller coaster, the pilot that I read so far. I'm spending a lot of time riding horses and getting ready with gun training and roping and tomahawks. I've just got to get prepared for all of it so it's kind of second nature while I'm doing it. HAVE YOU RIDDEN HORSES BEFORE? HAVE YOU HAD EXPERIENCE WITH ANY OF THAT STUFF BEFORE? CMM: I have very, very little, but I've picked it up very quickly. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FILMING A SHOW LIKE GILMORE GIRLS AND DAWSONS CREEK? CMM: Well, "Dawson's Creek" is like a well-oiled machine and "Gilmore Girls" is only in its second season. Everyone is still putting everything together. "Dawson's Creek" know the direction that it's been going in and everyone has been working together for so long that everyone just kind of knows their job and knows their place. It's boom boom boom boom boom, it's done done done done done. The actors have been doing it for so long, whereas "Gilmore Girls" is a little newer. WHAT'S IT LIKE BEING RECOGNIZED AND HAVE YOU HAD ANY BIZZARE FAN ENCOUNTERS YET? CMM: Yeeeaah... it's getting weird! It just gets weirder everyday. It really does. I've walked into a starbuck's and someone calls me from in the starbuck's and the manager asks, "Is there a Chad here?" I thought it was my friend screwing with me but no one knew I was at Starbuck's. This girl on the other end of the phone was like, "my friend just saw you walk into Starbuck's-oh my gosh!" that was weird. Then I was at Disneyland one time and I was standing in line for the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones Ride and this girl comes running up through the crowd, and the crowd just parted like the red sea. She just runs up, throws her arms around me, gives me a big ole kiss on the cheek and yells, "Tristan!" Then she just takes off running. Everyone just stares at me for the rest of the day. HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH STUFF LIKE THAT? CMM: I love people. I mean we shot at Duke University and I just stayed there taking pictures and signing autographs. I love people. My major goal is just to make people happy. It has been since day one. It doesn't bother me at all. Until I start getting some creepy 6'4" dude coming like "Hiii!", then I'll get a little freaked out. |
