Curtain The Ice Storm
Kel-o-meter:  D
Director

Sigourney Weaver won a British Academy Award for THIS?!? Jesus, puh-leeze she's only got 20 lines in the entire thing. Slow year for Limey films?

Maybe you might enjoy two hours watching dysfunction, sexually unhappy families spread their dysfunctional sexual gloom around their dysfunctional sexual universe. I didn't.

Well into the film it feels like interminably into the film somebody dies a macabre bizarre accidental death. The lead character cries. Roll credits. Swear to God, that's the end. You watch for two hours (seems like 40), then they apparently ran outta money and turned the cameras off. The end.

Sample dialogue:
Wife: "Did you remember to get the avocado dip?"
    Husband: "Yes."
Wife: "Good. You know how you like that with your sandwich."

Riveting stuff, eh? I'm reminded of the joke by that comedian who starred on the defunct NBC series Boston Public: If you only have two hours to live, watch The Ice Storm, because every minute feels like an eternity.
