| March 5, 2002 Hello again.... Still no pictures...I've almost gotten half way through a roll of film. I guess I should start getting more serious with my picture taking but I'll get around to it. I still haven't gone into Seoul and played the serious tourist part. I guess I'm waiting for someone to come along. On the other hand I am soaking up the culture so I guess that's touristy. I never did get to Japan last weekend. Trip got pushed back a week because Monday was the start of a new month. My boss figured that I should be around cause we ended up getting like 90 new students for this month. Things were kind of hectic rearranging schedules...not that I had to organize my own schedule but my classes did get changed around. Just when I started to get into a groove of teaching my classes, I've got a couple of new books to teach and some new students names to memorize...ah well. Things should settle down now but the last couple of days have been fairly hectic cause we send out status reports at the end of months. Anyways...that's enough talk about work. Friday was a holiday here and our boss took us out for dinner and then some Karoake. He challenged me to a drinking contest, which I won but also lost, so to speak...heh heh. Lets just say that next time he offers to chug consecutive beers with a shot of Scotch in each glass I'm gonna politely decline. My Korean friends tell me that it's part of Korean culture for a new boss to get you stinking loaded to find what you're really like. I can say for sure that he found out that my singing voice doesn't cater to songs by Celine Dion not that I didn't try... Until about noon Friday I was thinking that suicide was going to be my only reasonable option to make the hangover go away. It was about then that I pulled myself out of bed and called my Korean buddy, Soo to see what he was up to for the weekend. He told me that one of his friends from Canada was in town for a visit and that they were headed to Itaewon. So I dragged myself through the shower and ventured into Seoul. For some reason it took me almost two hours to get to Itaewon...I guess that because of the holiday the buses weren't running as often. So I was over 30 minutes late in meeting him but I couldn't call him cause I forgot to bring his number with me. So then, when I got to Itaewon, I had to hunt around for somewhere to access my email where I had his cell phone number stored because by that time he had gotten tired of waiting and was wandering around. So anywho...after some wandering around we ventured into Hongdae to keep the streak alive (I've been there at least once every weekend since I got here). Well not really to keep the streak alive but it's a nice area about halfway between Soo's place and my palace (notice I added an 'a'). Spent the next two days reading books in my apartment...I briefly considered going into Seoul Saturdy but couldn't muster up the energy. Although, now I don't have any more books so I'm gonna have to find someplace that sells English ones somewhere. You know I never really watched much TV in Winnipeg, except for movies really, but I've finally gotten around to seeing some of these newer shows...which really aren't that bad. Sunday annoyed me cause it's the only day I can watch Simpsons but for the second time this month the channel was out. So I came down to my friendly neighborhood 'PC Bang' to add another entry to my illustrious web site but geocities was down... So then I went to log onto a web site to find out some info about Osaka before I go, but that site was down too....ah well. Well now I'm rambling again...can't wait till Friday...payday. I'll officially be a millionaire...in Won of course but heh you gotta start somewhere. Then I'll be in Japan for the weekend and I won't get back till Monday night so I'll get yet another long weekend. Gotta love it...until later. Have a peachy day y'all! |
