Is it really already June?

I suppose that means that I've been in this country for 4 months now and I'm still loving it.  I noticed that I haven't made an entry here in awhile.  You might think that's cause I haven't had anything exciting to write about. Actually I've had plenty to write about I've just been too busy(or lazy) to find time to stop by my local PC Bang.

It's been an interesting couple of weeks.  One of our teachers got fired last week.  Which really pisses me off cause I really like her and we got along great.  They say that parents were complaining about her, but then that's pretty well a blanket excuse for anything that happens at school.

A new teacher arrived from Seattle last week.  His name is Bret, which shouldn't cause any problems at school.  Yeah right, he hadn't even arrived yet last week and my coordingator called me Bret at least three different times.  And of course, everytime someone calls his name, I turn around.  Ah well, at least he's a really cool guy.  We've got the same interests.  In fact, it may be possible that he likes to go out and have fun more than I do.  We've had a lot of fun the last couple weeks running around in Seoul getting into trouble.

I've also got a new language exchange partner named Gye-Young.  She's a girl from a University that an acquaintance of mine works at. She's really great.  The only problem is that she lives a long way from where I do.  But we've met the last three Saturdays in Seoul and I 'm learning a lot from her.  She sends me text messages and emails in Korean which really helps me with my studying.

My original language exchange partner Soo-Yeon started a new job and has been busy so I decided to find a new one.  Which isn't to say that I don't see her anymore.  We went out last Sunday and I soaked up some culture.  We vistited Deoksugung Palace in downtown Seoul and then went to an art museum.  That was pretty cool...in a boring sort of way.  The exhibition was Korean art from 1900-1960.  I guess I'm kind of dense when it comes to art cause I was thinking that a couple of the pieces must have been created blindfolded after drinking a dozen beers.  :)

It was a holiday on Thursay June 6th, so it was nice to have the day off.  Although I wasted the whole day cause Bret and I went out Wednesday night which turned into much of Thursday too.

It's payday tomorrow!  It'll be a nice paycheck too cause I worked some overtime last month  Two of our teachers were on a holiday in China and then two of our teachers got sick and ended up in the hospital the last week of May.  I wonder if I'm going to end up in the hospital too soon cause I haven't been feeling great either.

World Cup is in full force here.  Korea had their first match on Tuesday and our school let our kids out 50 minutes early so that they could run home to watch the game.  It was funny too because we, the teachers, had  to clear out as quickly as possible so that the Korean staff could run home and watch the game too.  Not that I would really complain about getting out of work early.

I've been watching a lot of the games even though I never really liked watching soccer all that much.  I like playing it though and the World Cup is pretty exciting.  Bret and I went out for Korea's first match.  It took us trying four different places before we could find a place with a TV that actually had an available seat.  Things kind of went off when Korea beat Poland.  Turns out it was Koreas first ever win in a World Cup.

Korea plays the U.S. today tomorrow at 3:30.  The game should be pretty intense but I can't decide who I'll be cheering for. Right now I'm pretty sure that it'll be Korea.  Even though I'll be at work, I'm gonna watch pretty well the whole game cause Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I've got a break from 3:35 to 5:15.

Anyways, enough about soccer.  I still can't decide when to take my holidays or where I'm gonna go.  I'm thinking about Beijing now but I'd like someone to travel with.  I think it might be kind of boring but I'd like to see "the great wall", Tiennamen square, the forbidden city...etc.  I'm thinking I'll just put off any vacation decisions till September.  Anyways, I don't feel like I need a vacation yet.

I still haven't taken a video clip of my apartment or even any pictures.  I've really been meaning to but I just don't have the energy to clean my apartment.

As for all of you.  Send me some email and let me know how you're doing.  I haven't had a phone card so I haven't talked to anyone but my mother in weeks.

Miss you all.
