 Health news

Phyllis Dales Davis

Message from Phyllis Dales Davis: I am still undergoing treatments for cancer, and I am also dealing with complications relating to my cancer treatments. I am currently undergoing physical therapy to regain the use of my left arm and  shoulder, which became "frozen" after several surgeries. I am also undergoing pulmonary therapy for damage to my upper respiratory system as a result of radiation. And I continue to take oral chemotherapy, as well as treatments for lupus, rheumatoid and osteo arthiritis, and vasculitis, which are all complications from chemotherapy. I want my classmates to know that I appreciate their concern and prayers for me, and I look forward to the time when I can give a better health report. Don't give up on me. The support of those who love and care about me give me strength when I am weak.

An update (8-3-05) on Martha Owens Betson from Arwon Keen Mullins: Arwon visited the hospital and stated that Martha had a tracheotomy on Friday. Her family says that she is breathing easier. Arwon says that Martha is heavily sedated. The doctors say that Martha could  be moved to a regular room by the end of next week if all goes well. Several surgeries have been needed before they could tackle her cancer.

Also, Virginia would appreciate hearing from her classmates by way of email ([email protected] ), or you may write to her at P. O. Box 95, South Boston, VA 24592.

Virginia Mullins Smith's  son has some medical problems also.  She sent an address for a website about her son.  She didn't ask that we post it on our reunion site, but I thought I would pass it along so you can be informed.  Virginia, I hope you don't mind.  Here is the address of the site:
