Blakely Battlefield

Skjalg ute paa slagmarken. Skjalg on the civil war battlefield.

The last major battle of the Civil War was fought here ending the same day but after th surrender of General Robert E Lee miles away in Virginia. Civil War breastworks, among the best preserved in the country, now wind their way through Blakeley woods. Remains of earthen forts, old rifle pits, redout and battery sites dot the 3800 acres listed on the National Register of Historic Places- the largest such site east of the Mississippi River (quoted from the "Historic Blakeley State Park Self Guided Tour Brochure".)

Over Roar's left shoulder you can see the jury oak. That's where the jury sat when they decided whether the defendant was guilty or not. If he was found guilty, he would be escorted to the hanging tree (right column) and executed right away.

Denne taler vel for seg??? This picture I think speaks for itself,or??
