Part Six:

(Kananno and Koemi are laying on beds, while two medic droids are tending to their wounds by smearing a clear-jell on. Gonjen bursts into the room and stops at the bottom of Koemi's bed.)
Gonjen: (Angrily) You deliberately disobeyed me!
Koemi: No! No, we didn't. We broke down and…
Gonjen: Don't give me that. You went into Undercity! You left the manhole uncovered! God… what would have happened had an innocent child fallen in there? Koemi… You're suspended. You too, Kananno.
Koemi: (Devastated) No! We found out how the creatures are getting stronger! Please, Gonjen! Don't suspend us! Let us keep working on the case!
Kananno: (Just as upset) Honest, We know it was a bad idea, but we're ok, and we've valuable information! You can't suspend us!
Gonjen: (Shocked) You… you know what's going on?
Koemi: Yes! YES! It's Oda!
Gonjen: Who?
Koemi: Oda! He's the priest in the Undercity Meijing Cathedral.
Kananno: You see. They've been possessing the bodies of the Creatures and taking them over. That's why they've gotten so smart! Their usual brains, which are usually decayed and rotting have now been replaced by a fresh, living one!
Gonjen: Oh dear. We've a real problem here.
Koemi: Are we still suspended?
Gonjen: After the information you just told me? I'd have to have a heart of stone to suspend you two. Heal quickly, my dears, then see me in the lab. I have an Undercover assignment for you both. (Gonjen leaves the room)
Koemi: That was too close for comfort.
Kananno: Thank GOD we found out something! Or we'd be sitting at home suspended!
Koemi: I love undercover work. We should become regular undercover agents.
Kananno: Not me! I hate it. Too much danger, too much risk and too little sleep! No thank you! I only do it when I have to.
Koemi: Well, you have to do it, now.

(They're on a scooter, cruising through the Lower section of Hiromi. Koemi is driving and Kananno has his arms around her waist, watching the buildings whizzing by.)
Kananno: (Yelling over the constant buzz of the motor) How much longer? It didn't take this long before!
Koemi: We're almost there!
(After another moment, Koemi stops the motor and the two of them dismount.)
Koemi: Ready for a HDU? (Holographic Disguise Unit)
Kananno: (Unenthusiastically) No. But go ahead anyway.
(Koemi pulls out two small little chips and places one on her neck and then moves Kananno's hair and does the same. Instantly, they change into someone else. Kananno's hair turns purple, his eyes brown, he seems taller and more built. Even his facial features change. Koemi's hair becomes short and blond, her eyes a vivid green, and her too turns taller.)
Koemi: ( Her voice sounding different cause of the chip. It's higher)Now when we go down there, no one will recognize us. We really look like someone else you're kind of cute like that.
Kananno: (Annoyed, and his voice lower) Gee, thanks.
Koemi: (Protectively) I'm just trying to make you look better about the new way you look!
Kananno: Well, I like you better the old way.
Koemi: Thanks, Kan. (Pulling open the smoking man hole cover) Down we go.
(She shoots the grappling into the wall, almost directly beside her previous shot. Kananno wraps his arms around her waist again, and sighs. Together they jump down the hole and propel off the wall, till they hit Undercity's paved, dingy streets)
Kananno: Welcome back.
Koemi: Shhh… C'mon. Let's find that damn temple again. And make sure that that chip doesn't fall off. That's all we need!
Kananno: (Falling into step beside her) Is it intelligent us coming down her twice in the same day? I mean, that's pretty dumb if you ask me. We're going to get ourselves killed.
Koemi: (Disgusted) Yeah, and your negative vibes are going to tip them off. Have some optimism for once in your life, Kan- Oh dear. (She stops, pulling Kan to a halt beside her.) We can't keep our real names… What should mine be?
Kananno: Suki.
Koemi: (Skeptically) Suki? Ewe.
Kananno: I like it.
Koemi: Then your name is Reece.
Kananno: WHAT? Uh-uh! No way. That's a dumb name.
Koemi: Well I like it. If I'm Suki, then your Reece. Get over it. If I was your parents and named you that, you couldn't disagree. You'd be stuck with it, now C'mon!
(As they walk down the street towards the temple, Kananno starts singing a song about them going down into the city for a second time and being killed. When he starts getting into gory details, Koemi hushes him.)
Koemi: Knock it off. You're grossing me out.
Kananno: It's my code.
Koemi: Code? What for?
Kananno: For what they're going to do to us when they get us. And how this is a really bad idea.
Koemi: Get a life, Reece.
Kananno: I hate that name. Can I have a cool nickname, then? Like SPEED or SMASHER or something?
Koemi: How about RETARD? That fits you well.
Kananno: Go away.
(She pulls open the heavily corroded doors and enters the candle lit room of the church. Instantly, all eyes turn to them, but not with the suspicion they'd had before.)
Koemi: Hello. My name is Suki… this is Reece.
Kananno: (Dejectedly) Yeah, hi.
Koemi: We're new down here. I'm not sure, but is this the temple of Meijing?
Oda: It says it on the front. Can't you read?
Koemi: No. Reece can.
Kananno: Yeah, but I didn't look. Sorry.
Oda: Oh, well… Welcome!
(He ushers them into a small room in the back. Instantly Kananno looks around, noticing a dislodged air vent grate in the ceiling, and then a large rack of huge, brown cloaks-the same kind everyone else in the monastery is wearing.)
Oda: Here, put these on, and welcome to the Cult of Meijing.
Koemi: (Happily) Oh, thank you! Reece, isn't this wonderful! Our very own Meijing robe!
Kananno: (Apathetically) Yeah. Wonderful. I'll send my mom a postcard and tell her all about it.
Koemi: (Under her breath) Dork.
Oda: Come, we were just about to start the sacrifice! This should be wonderful with two new arrivals! We've managed to catch one of the GH patrollers!. She's supposed to be some high-honored official. Maybe you've heard of her? Her name's Rei..
