Part Five:

(Koemi and Kananno slowly start to back away, trying to keep their enemy in front of them, but they're surrounded. Soon their backs are pressing together.)
Kananno: (In a panic) What do we do?
Koemi: Trust me, and when I say so, duck.
(Kananno nods and watches as Oda slowly approaches them, and then produces a large dagger from out of his sleeve.)
Oda: Now, I recognize you, both. Yes, yes… Kananno Jaijing and Koemi Kikawasa! Well, well, well. I feel blessed with the presence of such… Well known Ghoul Hunters in our presence.
Koemi: (Softly to Kananno) Get ready.
Oda: I'm so sorry this has to happen, but it wouldn't be life if it didn't…
(With out warning two of his associates leap onto Koemi, sinking a large silver stiletto into her shoulder. Screaming, she falls to the ground, her laser disc shooting out of her wrist holder. It hits the wall and ricochets off, then imbeds itself into Kananno's upper arm. He screams and gets pushed to the ground by Oda.)
Oda: Ha ha ha! Fools! Imbeciles! Retards! Nice shot, Koemi… do you always pick off your own partners? (Regains himself, and then faces his followers) Kill them… eat them for all I care, just enjoy your selves.
Koemi: Kan… (He's lying beside her, trying to pull the disc out of his arm) Kan…look down at your shirt. Is your TTU still there?
Kan: Yes…
(Koemi quickly pulls the calculator-type thing from her pocket, just as the creature-people start to jump onto them and punches in a number. In a flash, they find themselves lying on the floor of the GH Headquarters. Instantly people stop working, a few gasp and some of them even scream)
Kananno: (Out of breath, and finally un-wedging the disc painfully from his arm. He drops it onto the ground, and clasps the gushing wound) Way to go, Einstein! Anymore wonderful ideas?
Koemi: (Holding her emanating shoulder) Yeah... How about walking down to the medical center?
(Suddenly Rei and Loki come rushing from the huge gathering crowd.)
Rei: Someone! Send for a medic! (Turning towards Kananno and Koemi) Christ! What happened to you two? Are you alright?!?
Loki: (Kneeling beside Kananno and wrapping her arm around his neck) You poor love! Someone, get the first aid kit from my desk! It'll be ok. That looks nasty. You poor thing…( She suddenly freezes) HEY! (She snatches the bloodied laser disc from the floor) This is Koemi's! Did she try and kill you?
Kananno: Don't be ridiculous. We got attacked, and they accidentally set her disc off and it hit me in the arm. A pure accident… (He looks up at Koemi and asks almost hopefully) … Right?
Koemi: (Out raged) Of course it was an accident! I'd never hurt Kan on purpose! Why the hell are you putting ideas into his head?!?
Loki: (insolently) When you suddenly materialize on the floor, bleeding, and I see YOUR laser disc sticking in my poor Kananno's arm! what am I supposed to think?
Rei: Knock it off you two. The medics are here.
(Two medics come rushing towards the group and quickly help Kan and Koemi into their floating gurneys, and instantly start fussing over their arms)
Kananno: (To Koemi) Y'know Gonjen's gonna have a fit over this, right?
Koemi: Let's just hope I can calm him down with what we found out
