Moaning Myrtle's Societal Gripe
Yes, yet again Myrtle has something to complain about. I have been out and about lately visiting the bathrooms of boring Muggles and have overheard things that make me furious. I, Moaning Myrtle will now clarify for everyone what the Harry Potter books are not.

Firstly, when most people consider fantasy novels, they refer to
J.R.R. Tolkeins Lord Of The Rings series. When a lot of utter Muggles refer to Harry Potter they claim it is a rip off of Lord Of The Rings which just isnt so. Fantasy novels have a formula. Fantasy novels are something that I personally do not like. Therefore, Harry Potter must be in a league of its own.

Although there may be some similarities, what with the innocence and ignorance shown in both sets of main characters. Some names may sound the same, probably because they are derived from a similar source; still, Harry Potter and
The Lord Of The Rings are utterly different. For one thing, I couldnt get past the first page in one of those series. I wonder which?

(Just a note, I do not intend to insult the
Lord Of The Rings I am merely stating the differences between that and Harry Potter.)

Now to those who believe that Harry Potter is filling childrens heads with paganistic ideals and talk that witchcraft will solve all your problems. Harry Potter is a book about magic. But it is not solely about the magic that comes out of wands and spell books. There is magic in the hearts and souls of the characters. Magic that dwells within every one of us as well. It is the dreams we create. The visions we intend for ourselves. The courage, kindness, wisdom and even determination that builds itself in ourselves.

If you believe that Harry Potter is teaching children witchcraft, then you must therefore believe in witchcraft. If you think that witchcraft is so wrong, why bother believing in it because all sensible people know that it is a load of codswallop. Anyway, its not as if Harry Potter books actually give you spells. At most youre given a few magic words that to people who practice witchcraft are utter gibberish. They mean nothing and are harmless. As a note, everyone knows you cant solve your problems with witchcraft. Problems cannot be solved by the means we hold in our hands right now, how can we resolve things by using means that dont even exist?

To most Harry Potter fans the stories are but escapism. We use them to escape from our normal and boring lives. Some of us even use them to fill us with the hope that Harry brings to the wizarding world. We hope that his magic can keep us dreaming and looking toward the future.
