Moaning Myrtle's Guide to Espionage
When stalking ones prey, it is best to take ones time. Say nothing, and as sure as eggs, he become curious and emerges. Harper Lee.

This wonderful woman has been a source of inspiration for me. When the good prince Harry first started at Hogwarts, I was at a loss as to how I should best follow him around the school without him noticing. But there was the answer: make him curious.

If your prey is curious as to who you are, what you are and what indeed you find so interesting about following them around as they sneak into the Prefects Bathroom, youre in. If they have questions to ask you about why you stalk them, do not they then have to stalk you to find out the answers?

Its a stroke of genius really. Some believe espionage can only be effective when you use stealth, not true. The most effective way to spy on someone is to lure them into the thought that they are stalking you. It is the easiest way for them to let their guard down and once that guard is down it is easy to find out just how that brain of theirs works.

In ordinary circumstances, people generally have a purpose for spying on someone. They want to find out what they look like naked, whether theyre in league with Voldemort, or indeed whether they like their toast cut into squares or triangles. I however, find it more effective if one does not have any purpose whatsoever for stalking your prey. Take me and Harry for example; sure I think the good prince is a spunk but I have no real purpose for following him around as he rushes off to class. Indeed, when confrontation comes, which it will, I havent done anything wrong. I dont need to find anything out at all. The information that I have acquired is simply knowledge that Harry made obvious when he was in actual fact stalking me because he wanted to know why I was following him.

So, there we have it. Espionage is quite a simple task if you know how to go about it correctly. Make yourself known; follow that person; eventually, theyll want to follow you if only to find out why it is youre following them. And then, the hunter will become the hunted and you will know all you need about that particular person.

By the way, I prefer triangles.
