This web page is dedicated to my favorite anime show, Ghost in the Shell. Sure, it doesn't offer a whole lot different than any of the other GITS sites, but I just wanted to have fun with it and spread the word about one of the greatest animes out today. Besides, I don't think that there are enough sites on the web about GITS. I plan in time to add more to this site to make it unique.
The first time I heard of GITS was when I was at a local store that supplies Anime. I was looking for something new to buy and checked out the GITS box. It had a cool cover and a pretty cool story line, so I bought it. Since then, I have practically worn out the tape from watching it so many times.
After studying up more on the whole GITS, (Manga=comics and Anime=movie) thing, I have learned that they are a bit different from each other. There were a lot of GITS readers that were disappointed when the movie came out because of how different the characters are from the Manga and Anime. In the Manga version, the characters have a bit more of a personality and even have fun from time to time. In the Anime the characters are colder, have less personality, and never smile. I guess what I prefer (probably because it is what my first impression of GITS was) is the Anime version of the characters. I like the more cybernetic, mysterious type of acting. I like the philosophy and thought provoking direction that the movie takes. Deep stuff Man! I also like the way the music goes with the movie. However, I can see how someone who started with GITS Manga from the start, would be upset with the drastic change in the characters in the movie. I have grown to love both versions of characters, though I tend to think of them as being different characters. Feel free to email me with your opinions on this. I hear that a second movie is in the works, but keeps getting delayed for various reasons. I WILL tell you, whether the Major Kusinagi is smiling, telling jokes and kicking butt or serious, never smiling and kicking butt, I will be one of the first ones in line to buy a copy of Ghost in the Shell 2!!!
