Adapted from the IGHS (ghostweb.com) Standards and Protocols. A list of do's and dont's when conducting a field investigation. Additions to this list by NEPIT. 1) Always conduct investigations in a professional manner. 2) Respect private property ,ask permission and do not trespass. 3) No littering. 4) Do not take photos during adverse weather conditions (rain,mist,fog,snow, windy or dusty conditions) 5) No smoking during an investigation. 6) No alcohol or drugs prior to or during an investigation(or after if remaining on site) 7) Remove or wear camera strap so it does not hang loose. 8) Do not take photos from moving vehicles on dusty roads. 9) Avoid shooting into the sun for resulting lens flare. 10) Avoid shooting with a flash at reflective shiney surfaces. 11) Tie back long hair. 12) Hold your breath when taking a shot in cold weather or hold camera away from yourself. 13) Avoid taking a shot if foreign objects such as insects are flying around the camera. 14) Keep fingers away from the lens. 15) Always use fresh audio and video tapes. 16) Follow lunar, solar and geomagnetic reports for best results. 17) No Ouija boards or seances during an investigation. 18) Compare anomalous prints with negatives. 19) Ask the Spirits for permission to take their photos. (It's a nice thing to do and it works:)) 20) Show respect and reverance in cemeteries, historical sites, battlefields,etc.. 21) No horseplay or running in investigation sites. 22) No making deliberate ghostly sounds (moans, whispers,etc.) 23) No shooting camera flashes directly into or across a video camera. 24) Be aware of outside lights that may interfere with data interpretation ( streetlights, headlights, lights from houses and flashlights being carried by those in the investigation) 25) Be aware of external sounds during the making of EVPs or Videos (cars, houses, animals,children, highway dopler effect,etc.) |
