Eddy and Double D By Ghost Helwig

They Never Knew You
by Eddward

They never knew you
...But I did
They never knew the way you really felt
...But I did
They never saw the way youd take care of us
Or give up your bed to me without a fuss
Or be there for me when I needed love
They never saw
...But I did

They never took the time to get to know you
Just based their judgments on the stupid things you do
Never giving us a moments peace
Thinking everything you do is just to fleece
They never took the time to see your depths
Or figure out why we never left
Like I am dumb enough to stay if you only caused me pain
They never took the time to use their brains

They never knew you
...Not like I do
They never saw you
...Not like I do
They never gave you a chance
They never gave you a glance
It was all just happenstance
But theyll never change their stance
They think all you are is plans
So theyll never know
...But I do

They never saw the joy you gave to us
The sweet way youd look right before you raised a fuss
They never saw that you just liked to play
Your happiness was found in your less-than-gentle games
But you never once set out to hurt
So it upsets me when they say youre dirt

Because I see, and I know they never do
They only see a jerk when they look at you
But underneath theres so much more to who you are
Thats why I stand beside you as you hold that empty jar

They never loved you
...But I do
They never loved you
...Not like I do
And theyll never see, theyll never see at all
But in my mind you stand at over seven feet tall
Because you are there whenever I fall
They never loved you
...But thats what Ill always do
Disclaimer
Neither I nor darthelwig owns or profits from Ed, Edd N Eddy.  Rated PG for... um... nothing.  Nothing at all.  Not slash, though I suppose it could be considered so...
Special thanks to Mysticlynx for reminding me with her beautiful poem (Wishful Thinking its here.  Check it out if youd like to read her take on the enigma that is Sockhead...) that writing Ed, Edd N Eddy poetry can be a very rewarding experience.
I wrote this, so no taking, okay?  Inspired by all the Eddy-bashing I was reading, I decided to write about him from the point of view of his biggest critic and (I firmly believe) his biggest fan.  Enjoy.  Peace, all.
