ZETA GALAXY: CLAWS OF THE GHOST

OVERVIEW
Zeta Galaxy, which only recently moved into the Inner Sphere from the homeworlds, is the only Galaxy among the Clans consisting entirely of elementals. The unit did not start out this way, but gradually evolved into its current state over the past hundred years or so by absorbing large numbers of solahma Elementals shifted out of other units. As Zeta Galaxy reached 50 percent Elementals, its commanders developed unique tactics for the use of armored infantry en masse. The unit's reputation grew, and so did the flow of Elementals from other units.

Khan Jorgensson now actively supports the development of this Galaxy. Though technically a provisional garrison unit, it is also an important tactical research unit for the Clan, and has become well known for its innovative use of battle armored infantry troops.

Normally, Zeta's Clusters are attached to OmniMech Clusters from other Galaxies to form "Nova-Clusters", but occasionally the units of Zeta Galaxy fight alone. Doing so often results in a drastic underbid from their incredulous opponent, and more often than not a Ghost Bear victory.

The insignia of Zeta Galaxy is a white bear paw with exaggerated claws, surrounded by mist and vapors. Each Claw Cluster insignia uses a similar design, with the Cluster number emblazoned on it in blue Roman numerals.

OFFICERS
Jocelyn Vong served with distinction as the commander of the Seventy-eighth Elemental Support Binary before winning the honor of Galaxy command of the Claws of the Ghost. She is best known for capturing the planet Sheliak in a football game, but is also a superb commander and a powerful fighter. Vong's team defeated the Sheliak All-Stars 84-3.

TACTICS
A century of practice in battle armor tactics makes this Galaxy arguably the finest Elemental unit in the Clans. Zeta's nature as an all-infantry unit dictates unusual tactics. Unlike the single combat espoused by MechWarriors, Elementals learn to fight as a team, especially so in Clan Ghost Bear. Coordinated assaults from hidden positions are hallmarks of this Galaxy.

1st Claw
5 Trinaries/Elite/Fanatical
CO: Galaxy Commander Jocelyn Vong
Aide: Star Colonel Kenbarg DelVillar

Every Point of Elementals in the elite First Claw is commanded by a seasoned veteran, making this unit the most feared battle armor force in the Ghost Bears. However, the warriors' level of experience also marks this unit as one of the oldest in the Clan, earning an equal measure of distaste from those outside Clan Ghost Bear.

2nd Claw
5 Trinaries/Elite/Reliable
CO: Star Colonel Sarah Kabrinski

A veteran of the elite Third Bear Guards, Sarah Kabrinski is one of the best infantry commanders in the Clan, and is especially well-versed in combined-arms operations with Battlemechs and Aerospace fighters. The Elementals of her command are exceptionally flexible, and are especially proficient at high-altitude combat drops.

3rd Claw
5 Trinaries/Veteran/Reliable
CO: Star Colonel Layne Vong

The warriors of the Third Claw are extensively trained to fight without 'Mech support. They make excellent marines and urban garrison troops, fighting where BattleMechs cannot tread. They also have significant experience in supporting conventional vehicles, an asset gained from years of service on backwater worlds.

4th Claw
5 Trinaries/Regular/Fanatical
CO: Star Colonel Isaac

Even though he has yet to earn his Bloodname, Star Colonel Isaac well deserves his command. He was beaten in three Trials of Bloodright for the Kabrinski name in the final round by warriors of utmost skill (including fellow Zeta Cluster commander Sarah Kabrinski). He is also the strongest warrior in Clan Ghost Bear. Standing nearly three meters tall and weighing more than 500 kilograms, it is said that he can defeat other Elementals when they are in battle armor and he is not. His massive size is something of a handicap, however, as even Clan scientists cannot counter the stress on his spine. Now suffering chronic back pain, Isaac is rumored to be suicidal, diving into the midst of battles in the hopes of dying with honor before he is retired from duty.
