XI GALAXY

OVERVIEW
Over time, every Clan seems to develop a Galaxy that attracts the worst of the warrior caste, and Clan Ghost Bear is no exception.  Xi Galaxy suffered early in its existence from an abusive commander whose tactical skills were greatly lacking.  Challenged by his second-in-command, he was defeated in combat.  Unfortunately, the new commander was no improvement over his predecessor.  That ill-fated succession of officers continue to this day, with one second-rate Galaxy Commander after another and each Star Colonel jockeying for position to become the next one on top.

In spite of this instability in the upper echelons, the warriors of Xi display extreme loyalty to their unit (if not their commanders).  They fight with savage fury, and have a long history of driving their opponents from the field with as many shouted epithets as laser blasts.  Their direct methods unfortunately cause them almost as much damage to their own 'Mechs as to their opponents', and their status as a second-line Galaxy means that they must often operate desperately low on materiel.

The Galaxy insignia is the Clan Ghost Bear logo rendered in yellow, with the Greek letter Xi superimposed over it.

OFFICERS
An aerospace ristar, Star Colonel Bradley Bourjon saw his career cut short when a severe crash cost him most of his left leg.  Prosthetic replacement allowed him to continue to fly, but the inherent limitations of the false leg landed him behind the desk as the commander of the Clan's worst Galaxy.  Though generally a jovial man, Bradley despises the turn of fate that landed him this assignment and lets everyone around hime know it.  He is an able commander, however, and is particularly good at using computer simulations to aid strategic planning.  Khan Jorgensson hopes that Bourjon can turn around Xi's history of weak command.

TACTICS
Despite the best efforts of their new commander, the forces of Xi Galaxy display little talent for combat tactics.  They favor direct assaults reminiscent of the Smoke Jaguars, applying maximum force early in a battle to win quickly and decisively.

5th Bear Regulars
5 Trinaries/Veteran/Reliable
CO: Galaxy Commander Bradley Bourjon
Aide: Star Captain James

Aided by the young ristar Elemental Jamesm who uses raw brutality to keep upstarts in line, Galaxy Commander Bourjon has begun to make headway in reforming his own Fifth Regulars.  Only time will tell if his efforts pay off before one of his ambitious subordinates challenges his command.

Last Known Location: Constance

10th Provisional Garrison Cluster
3 Trinaries/Green/Questionable
CO: Star Colonel Michael Jorgensson

The Tenth PGC may be the worst unit in the Clan, an assessment which Star Colonel Michael Jorgensson would not argue.  An ambitious warrior, Jorgensson gained his Bloodname as a stepping-stone to Khanship.  Unlucky for him, his naked ambition drew attention to his petently unClanlike attitude and landed him assignment to this unit.  His forces chafe under his heel, while he bides his time to make a play for command of Xi.

Last Known Location: Kaesong

42nd Provisional Garrison Cluster
3 Trinaries/Regular/Questionable
CO: Star Colonel Dawn Mitshan

Like the rest of Xi, command problems plague the Forty-second PGC.  Star Colonel Mitshan, while an excellent MechWarrior, is a soft-spoken and unassuming woman who tries in vain to lead by example rather than words.  This approach works in the field, but also means that her unit suffers in competition with other Clusters in the Galaxy for parts and technicians.  The Forty-second consistently loses out, and consequently is woefully understrength.

Last Known Location: Sheliak

56th Provisional Garrison Cluster
4 Trinaries/Green/Fanatical
CO: Star Colonel Lauren

One of the youngest Star Colonels in the Clan, Lauren is a ristar fighter pilot on a mission to reverse the downward spiral of Xi and put the unit back on the map.  So far she has managed to ensure that her subcommanders are all strong Wardens and at least reasonable capable commanders.
