SIGMA GALAXY
OVERVIEW
The transfer of all Ghost Bear personnel to the
Inner Sphere occupation zone was bound to have serious consequences, many of
which were not foreseen by Khans Jorgensson and Kabrinski. One of these is
the uneven and sometimes hostile integration between the front-line invading
Clusters and the homeworld garrison troops brought forward to reinforce the
occupied zone's defenses. Along with the second-line BattleMech and
Elemental forces came a significant force of conventional vehicle units.
These units have had trouble operating side-by-side with front-line OmniMech
forces; many have requested transfers to Sigma Galaxy, which is led by a veteran
tank commander. This has swelled Sigma's ranks with tanks, hovercraft,
VTOLs and assorted support vehicles, which it dispatches to effectively
reinforce other Galaxies as needed. So far, no front-line unit has
requested such help.
The Galaxy insignia is the Clan Ghost Bear logo rendered in green, with the Greek letter Sigma superimposed over it.
OFFICERS
Galaxy Commander Aleksandr was bred as a
MechWarrior in a rare exchange of genetic materials with Clan Wolf. With
paternal genetic material derived from Nicholas Kerensky and maternal material
from Hans Jorgensson, his was to be the finest sibko bred by the Ghost Bears in
a hundred years. Though he could never lay claim to the jealously guarded
Kerensky Bloodname, Ghost Bear scientists hoped Aleksandr - named in honor of
the Great Father - would be the pride of the sibko. It was a shattering
blow when the young warrior, the only survivor of his sibko's training cycle,
was critically injured in his Trial of Position moments before scoring his first
kill and narrowly missing his chance to become a MechWarrior.
After nearly a year of recovery, Aleksandr was allowed to test for an alternate branch of warrior duty, and though he showed aptitude for aerospace piloting, his two-meter tall frame precluded such duty. Instead, he was forced into armored vehicle training, where he flourished. In his second Trial of Position, he scored two kills and immeadiately began showing brilliant leadership skills as a Star Commander. Aleksandr has always pushed himself to perform, perhaps because of what he regards as his shameful failure to his Bloodlines. Some believe he might even pilot his captured Athena combat vehicle into a Jorgensson Trial of Bloodright one day, provided one-man controls for the tank can be devised.
TACTICS
Thanks to Aleksandr's able leadership, Sigma
Galaxy excels at combat against conventional vehicle units. The Galaxy
commander is especially good at using his own tanks to pin down the enemy while
his unit's more mobile elements circle around for the kill.
7th Bear Regulars
5 Trinaries/Regular/Reliable
CO: Star Colonel Yasmine
The Seventh Regulars have the important task of defending Krenice, one of the Ghost Bear planets nearest to Terra and right on the Draconis Combine border. Though they are aided by the Tenth Phalanx, the MechWarriors of the Seventh view a mere armored-vehicle unit as little help. The Seventh recently fought a successful Trial of Possession for a Nova Cat OmniMech.
Last Known Location: Krenice
12th Provisional Garrison Cluster
5 Trinaries/Regular/Reliable
CO: Star Colonel Gareth
Unusual for a PGC, the Twelfth has two full Trinaries of Elementals, which come in handy for defending the rocky lowlands of Last Frontier.
Last Known Location: Last Frontier
10th Phalanx
5 Trinaries/Elite/Fanatical
CO: Galaxy Commander Aleksandr
Aide: Star Captain Ramon
Galaxy Commander Aleksandr possesses unsurpassed knowledge of tank combat tactics. He has assembled a corps of highly loyal and able tank commanders to form the Tenth Phalanx, the only Cluster of unmixed conventional forces in the Clan. Opponents underestimate the Tenth to their misfortune, as this Cluster is also one of the most effective second-line Clusters in urban combat.
Last Known Location: Krenice
21st Phalanx
6 Trinaries/Veteran/Reliable
CO: Star Colonel Laurel
The ranks of the Twenty-first Phalanx have swelled to six Clusters with all the vehicle crew transfers from other units in recent months. Star Colonel Laurel is struggling to incorporate the new additions, and has petitioned Khan Kabrinski for permission to form a new Phalanx unit.
