KAPPA GALAXY


OVERVIEW
Throughout its history, Kappa Galaxy has served as Clan Ghost Bear's fleet defense and mobile reserve. During Operation Revival, Clusters and Trinaries from this Galaxy were posted on Warships and supply bases throughout the Deep Periphery. This Galaxy's wide dispersal has led some Inner Sphere observers to tag Kappa units as units belonging to other Galaxies, and vice-versa. Now that the Bears have consolidated their forces in the Inner Sphere, Kappa has been solidified somewhat, though its units still maintain the seldom-used route back to Arcadia and Strana Mechty.

The Galaxy insignia is the Greek letter Kappa, superimpossed over the Clan Ghost Bear logo rendered in blue.

OFFICERS
An accomplished commander and pilot, only her failure to undergo the Clawing seems to keep Galaxy Commander Rhea Devon from a front-line posting. She is one of Khan Jorgensson's most trusted commanders, having served on his wing in several key battles. Devon's Fourth Bear Regulars are permanently entrusted with the defense of the Ghost Bear enclave on Arcadia.

Star Captain Jasper Carrera commands the Third Battle Trinary of the Fourteenth PGC. Though by all accounts and unremarkable MechWarrior, he managed to win the Grand Melee for a slot in a Carrera Bloodname tournament, and earned his Bloodname through what observers described as outrageous luck. Jasper has lorded his achievement over his fellow warriors ever since, much to the consternation of Star Colonel Xavier. Despite his attitude problems, Jasper is a good enough pilot and leader to avoid serious reprimand, and his famous luck seems to cover him at other times.

TACTICS
Kappa Elementals are exceptionally good marines, and drill constantly in performing and repelling boarding actions in space. Kappa's dispersed posting means that its Trinaries are at their best when operating independently; they tend to coordinate poorly in Cluster or Galaxy-sized operations.


4th Bear Regulars

This Cluster has the honor of acting as the permanent garrison for the Ghost Bears' Arcadia enclave, the only Bear holding maintained in Clan space. The Fourth shares the duty with a front-line Cluster rotated in periodically, currently the First Bear Guards. The front-line unit responds to challenges from other Clans, while the Regulars have the less prestigious responsibility of day-to-day defense.

11th Provisional Garrison Cluster

The Eleventh has an unusual composition, consisting of one Supernova Trinary of 'Mechs and Elementals, one Supernova Binary of fighters and Elementals, and two Trinaries of Elementals. This organization stems from the Cluster's primary duty as a supplier of marines and boarding parties to troops that lack such supporting elements travelling between worlds. The Eleventh's MechWarrior's are trained in zero-G operations, and their fighter pilots are experienced in serving as close support for Elementals boarding enemy ships.

Over the past twenty years, the Fourteenth has spent most of its time bandit-hunting, protecting Trelleborg and other Periphery outposts from these most dezgra of opponents. Scout elements of the Fourteenth are particularly adept at spotting ambushes.

63rd Provisional Garrison Cluster

The spacelanes nearest the Kerensky Cluster were the home of the Sixty-third for most of the unit's history, leading to many clashes with the Home Clans, particularly the Hell's Horses. In one such engagement, the heavy mechs of the Sixty-third were pinned down defending a DropShip from the attacking 108th Mechanized Cavalry. The Horse aerospace fighters mercilessly bombed the Sixty-third, inflicting severe losses. In spite of this, the light 'Mechs of the 108th were no match for the Sixty-third, who turned the tide as soon as the Horse fighters broke off to refuel. This and similarly brutal engagements have turned the warriors of this Cluster into savage fighters, who have more in common with Crusaders than Wardens.
