BETA GALAXY: NIGHT HOWLERS

OVERVIEW
Despite its excellent performance during Operation Revival, Beta Galaxy suffered serious casualties. An asteroid impact in the Damien system destroyed a Beta Dropship, resulting in the loss of an entire Cluster, and the Seventh Bear Guards were completely destroyed in the Hoth forest inferno on Tukayyid. These major losses most likely explain Comstar's occasional incorrect identification of Beta Galaxy units as belonging to the second-line Theta Galaxy. After rebuilding, Beta Galaxy is not as seasoned as it once was, but still manages to stand as an equal among other Ghost Bear front-line Galaxies.

The insignia of Beta Galaxy is a bear silhoutted against a silver moon, sitting on its haunches and howling like a wolf.

OFFICERS
Galaxy Commander Laurie Tseng is also the Clan's Loremaster. Though her skills as a mechwarrior are beginning to fade, she remains a strategic genius, using the time-tested, slow-but-steady advances favored by most Ghost Bear officers. During the invasion, the whole of Beta Galaxy attacked the world of Soverzene. Galaxy Commander Tseng's conservative approach earned an eventual but hard-fought victory in the face of ambush and similar underhanded tactics.

TACTICS
Personified by the attitudes of their commander, Beta units approach an enemy cautiously and rarely commit to an uncertain an uncertain situation. Flanking maneuvers supported by mechanized battle armor are a favorite tactic.

Trinary Galaxy Command (The Shrill Keshik)
1 Trinary/Veteran/Fanatical
CO: Galaxy Commander Loremaster Laurie Tseng

The personal unit of the Loremaster is composed entirely of her lifelong friends. In battle, they work together as a seamless whole; Tseng rarely has to issue orders to her unit. The unit insignia shows a white bear in its haunches, holding a black hunting bird on its arm, as though it were a falconer.

Last Known Location: Strana Mechty

12th Bear Chevaliers (The Wendigos)
5 Trinaries/Veteran/Fanatical
CO: Star Colonel Douglas Silva

The Chevaliers saw plenty of action during the invasion, using Elemental support to its fullest advantage. In rebuilding their losses since Tukayyid, the unit has taken on extra battle armor. It now supports two Trinaries of Elementals, plus two Supernova Trinaries and a single Binary of fighters. The unit insignia is a white Elemental battle armor suit with claws rather than weapons at the ends of its arms.

304th Assault Cluster (The Howling Bears)
5 Trinaries/Veteran/Fanatical
CO: Star Colonel Paul Vishio

The Howling Bears fought in many key battles of the invasion, including the liberation of of Policenigo from the grip of a criminal government. Star Colonel Vishio makes excellent use of the Elementals in his command as sappers and headhunters. The insignia of the 304th is a bear silhouetted against a gray castle tower, sitting on its haunches and howling like a wolf.

Last Known Location: Maule

332nd Assault Cluster (The Iowa Blacklancers)
5 Trinaries/Regular/Reliable
CO: Star Colonel Gosvoda Nuyriev

Unusual for an assualt Cluster, the 332nd has four Stars of aerospace fighters, but few Elementals. Star Colonel Nuyriev, an aerospace pilot, is expert at coordinating air strikes and ground assaults. His particularly aggressive and often crafty tactics have placed him under the watchful eye of Galaxy Commander Tseng. The Cluster inignia is a black knight mounted on a barded bear, emblazoned on a gray castle tower.

Last Known Location: Rubigen

14th Battle Cluster (The Maulers)
5 Trinaries/Elite/Questionable
CO: Star Colonel Dane Jorgensson

The Fourteenth encountered several disreputable mercenary opponents during the Inner Sphere invasion. Savagely ambushed by the Regal Death on Susquehanna, Star Colonel Jorgensson pushed for the Khan to declare all mercenaries dezgra, and was granted his wish. Since then, this unit has embarked on a campaign of destruction against any merecenaries they encounter, destroying every 'Mech of the Blue Lightning on Kaesong with neither batchall or remorse. Their extremist attitude and Crusader leader have labeled them as a unit of questionable loyalty. The unit insignia is a roaring black bear with blood-soaked claws on a blue star-shaped fiend.
