The Thief
The night stirs
as shadows dance
Denizons of night
awaken as the light dies.
Somewhere, a watch
calls out the time

At the calling of the time
the thief stirs.
The watch,
unknowingly invited to dance
by the roll of the die
sleepily acknowledges the night.

Through the night
the thief slows time
with each roll of the die.
He stops as the watch stirs,
his hand seeming to dance
upon the hilt as he studies the watch.

The gate watch
catches a shadow slip through the night,
trying to go unnoticed yet seeming to dance
through time.
Restless, he stirs-
the sleep in his eyes dies.

The light dies
in the watch's
eyes. The thief's blade stirs,
gliding through the night.
Time
stopped, the blade dances.

His eyes dance
over the body as it dies.
Time
of the essence should the missing watch
be dicovered. The night
wanes, day stirs.

After the watch dies, the
thief stirs to action, dancing through
the dying night, avoiding time - again
