The World Today

We're all the same,
Really, what's different?
The order of our names?
The color of our skin?
Our religion, our cultures,
Things we should embrace,
Become the wars of our race.

What is peace?
An emotion, an ideal,
Or maybe just a piece of mind.
Don't tell me it's just a dream,
It's my aspiration, my one desire.
If God is all-loving, all knowing,
And all wise,
Then why does he need us to fight for him?
I think God, or Allah, or Buddah,
Or whoever he is to you,
Can take care of himself.

Who will save us from ourselves?
Who will end the turmoil of our lives?
It doesn't make you a man,
Just because you have a bomb,
Guns don't make you manly, either.
If you have a problem with me,
Have it to my face,
Not behind my back.

Peace needs to come now.
Equality needs to come now.
Love needs to come now.
Tolerance needs to come now.
Respect needs to come now.
And finally,
We need to make our world livable again.
What the world needs now,
Is for people to get over it.

This is how our children will grow up now.
Is this really how we want our history to be written?
This is the turn our lives have taken.
This is the way things will continue,
Indefinately.
It only takes one man,
It only takes one stand,
To save us all from war.
Inevetiably, inevitably,
Right will fight,
But will it win?
